What is catnip?
Catnip is a natural herb that is related to mint. It contains a chemical compound called nepetalactone, which induces a harmless physiological reaction in some cats. Please note that not all cats react to catnip, and most kittens will not enjoy the effect until they are 6 - 9 months old

How do I use catnip?
Catnip can be used on toys, scratchers, bedding or by itself as a treat. Rub it into the surface of a scratcher or bed to entice your cat. Sprinkle it on wet or dry cat food to encourage picky eaters. There are also d ozens of refillable catnip toys on the market (we suggest the SmartyKat® MadcapMouse™) as well as toys, scratchers and bedding that have catnip hidden inside.Tip: Put a fabric toy and some catnip in a sealed plastic bag overnight. The catnip aroma will permeate the toy and create an irresistible treat!
Can my cats eat catnip?
Yes. Cats enjoy eating catnip as well as playing with it. Unless they have a rare allergy to catnip, it is safe for them to ingest.
How will catnip effect my cat?
The effects of catnip vary from cat to cat. Some cats become excited, hyperactive or aggressive. Some will become lethargic and fall asleep, while others may exhibit a dizzy or drunken effect. However your cat reacts, remember that catnip is not harmful to your cat, there is no way to overdose on it. Most cats know when they have had enough and will stop playing with it.
Will catnip harm humans or dogs if consumed?
No. Catnip is a harmless herb. While SmartKat® catnip is not intended for human consumption, some people believe that catnip has a calming effect when brewed as a tea. Similarly, catnip will not harm dogs if ingested, but they will not experience the effects that cats do.

My cat is a catnip junkie. This definitely gives her the fix she needs. Helps with calming her down to deal with a new kitten brother that she is not thrilled about. Just a little shake of this stuff and she is rolling over in her forgotten worries. Aka Mango her tiny brother from the underworld of kitty land. With the help of this stuff Mango is almost tolerable for her. But I still have to deal with her disapproving looks and glare. She loves this stuff. Will buy again.

smartykat catnip has always been a hit with my cat, but this is the first time i have bought it from chewy. my cat has no interest in it and i noticed it has no smell. i think your stock is too old and i will not buy it from you again.

I love this product! The container is a sturdy hard plastic and the catnip is organic! My cats go crazy for this stuff, and I feel safer with this brand. The lid actually opens with a salt/pepper shaker-like top so you can sprinkle it if you'd like--however, I found the catnip didn't come out very great with it. Not that that matters really, because I just end up unscrewing the whole top and access the catnip directly (like you would most catnip bags/containers). Definitely recommend this stuff

I kind of wondered why there was quite a bit of the catnip left after a few days. I didn't realize the catnip was organic, and that may be why Mia doesn't particularly like it. That, of course, does not mean that other cats won't. I would buy it again, but I remember the look I got from her when I put some more in her cat scratcher pad. Don't want to cross hairs or claws with her.

High quality product

After years of letting Dobby enjoy the low-quality catnip that comes with his scratching boards, I decided to go high-end for a Christmas gift. The upgrade in quality was immediately obvious. He loved it. Was rolling around and soon chilled out to a mellow demeanor (which he sometimes lacks). Our other cat got interested too. So yes, I will buy more at some time. Recommended.

Too much Hay

Last 2 auto ships this product was, at a minimum, 70% hay, 30% nip, I had to use half the bottle to put out enough catnip for 2 cats & they both looked at me as if to say "what do you expect us to do with that?". They didn't use it. It sat there for 3 days, getting tracked everywhere around the house & I finally vacuumed it up. I opened up 2nd bottle, exact same way. No smell to it either. This was my 2nd autoship order in a row. I've taken this brand product off my autoship, I will not be buying it again as it certainly is not the cheapest by far. I don't know if they just had a few bad batches, but if so, they should've reflected that in the price. No matter, I'm on to another brand. Yay catnip!

My 4 cats love catnip and they each have a special spot where they like to lick then roll in it. They recognize the container when I get it and go crazy till they get their spot with catnip on it! Will definitely buy this in the future!

Still determining if my cats react to catnip so jury is out still. However one thing I’ve noticed is that the flakes are too big to go through the shaker so you can’t actually sprinkle this. I have to remove the cap and pinch some out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Our house cats LOVE this brand of catnip. We watch our kids roll on the floor after nipping this great greenery. Then they tire themselves out and they are so relaxed after playing. Great brand.
