Simple product but cat loves it. The catnip must be helping

It took my furry friend a few days to try one of these out - after hanging 5 of them on various door knobs around the house, but she eventually tried it. Now she returns to specific spaces - particularly the one I hung on the arm of a swivel chair in the office.

I use these on the floor flat for the kitties. It has an attached cardboard hanger that you can use to hang it from a doorknob, but I just cut it off since I use it flat. No catnip provided with this scratcher.

Out of the box, this would be a 2, but with modifications it's a 5. Hung on the door knob, my cat initially didn't like that it swung around when touched. Then, when she did decide to use it as a scratcher, she immediately pulled it down and broke the circle that holds it up. I used 2 medium command picture hanger strips to mount it to the door, and it now holds steady and is hands down her favorite scratcher in the house. I've tried mounting other scratchers (not flippable, obviously) to the wall and she was not a fan so this one is better than others for mounting to the door.

My cats are older and these inexpensive cat scratchers are fabulous. Add the catnip and my oldest cat needs therapeutic intervention. She takes over both of them and scratches out the catnip. They last really well even with the destructive behavior.

I have a cat who loves to stretch and claw at the walls. He ignores this scratcher. The size is misleading. The described 20” includes the tip of the ear shape, not the scratcher. So it doesn’t hang low enough to the floor. My cats ignore it. Also, if your cat happens to be interested, this style will sway left to right. Plan on taping it still, or adding weights to the bottom. Design could use improvement.

We bot a few of these & the kitties take no interest in them at all. I don’t know if maybe catnip is an adult cat, or personal preference, but they don’t use them. Big disappointment.

I've gotten these SmartyKat scratchers before and my cat likes them. The web site said they are 20.25 inches long. I look at mine and they're 15.25 inches long. That's a big difference. Be wary of ordering these unless you have a short cat :-]
