The lights are only in the “ball” that rolls around inside the toy. They are motion activated, meaning the ball needs to roll and be jostled to start the lighting. The main toy (green and clear housing) does not have any lights; it produces the spinning action of the feathers. The light ball includes non-replaceable batteries. The main toy requires 2x AAA batteries which are not included.
