I got this scratching post thinking my cat wouldn't use it or even touch it, boy was I surprised to see how much my kitty uses it!! The base is a bit unstable being as it folds in two parts. The unit is toppled on it's side a lot. As for the usefulness, I rate it a 8 out of 10.
My cats love this. I just wish the base was a little bigger because my cats knock it over easily! Otherwise they like it!
The base is too small and our small to average sized cat simply pulls the post over. Since she can’t scratch on it, she now ignores it. Which completely defeats the purpose in purchasing this item. The scratcher is smaller in general that it seemed in the description, but nonetheless too small to be of use for our cat.
Jute on post superior to sisal. Compared to previous scratch post with 15.5 x15.5 base, this post with a base of 12.5x12.5 is tipsy and spooked my young cat when tipped over on her. Hard to return (?) after a bit of use, including sprinkling some catnip on the post and base. The base now secured on one side by an brick, and I am disappointed.
