CAN I PUT THIS ON HAY OR WILL IT CATCH FIRE
Answer by ChewySep 28, 2017
When the internal temperature of hay rises above 130 degrees Fahrenheit (55 degrees C), a chemical reaction begins to produce flammable gas that can ignite if the temperature goes high enough. Hay fires generally occur within six weeks of baling. As long as the temperature of the heating pad doesn't exceed 120 degrees, this product is safe to use with hay.

Hi,This is for my outdoor cat shelter. So between the straw and double reflective insulation could the pad possibly start A fire.
Answer by ChewyNov 02, 2017
This product does not pose a fire risk. However over heating can lead to a deformed pad and may cause the internal Thermapol to leak out. This can be dangerously hot and should not be touched until it has cooled down.

My current Snuggle Safes say to replace after three years from purchase. Why? What happens to the disk after three years?
Answer by ChewyFeb 04, 2018
The Heat Pad is safe for use as directed. The product is recyclable and after 3 years will begin to break down and need to be discarded.

Is this a hard plastic, or is it bendable so you can get it into a smaller opening than the diameter of the disc?
Answer by ChewyNov 12, 2017
This product is made with a hard plastic.

Fantastic item

I’ve used these for years! I heat for 4 minutes (varies per microwave) and slip it under a soft rug or blanket. With cat on It, it lasts all night! My cats love them!

Excellent Pet Heater If Correctly Used

After caring for an abandoned kitten who eventually passed away due to natural causes, I decided I was going to be better prepared in supplies. I got the bedding, fake litter mates, and a bin (plus other little treats), however a heat source was a necessary investment. After great educating of myself through other reviews, I choose two Snuggle Safes, one for day and one for night. I also got an addition heating source, a hot water bottle. I shall explain why. The reviews with low stars only had one animal or minimal connection with a natural flow of heat. The people who loved this product coincidentally had animals piling on it or a maximum flow of heat consistently on it. By having a hot water bottle as a steady heat source, I assumed it would last longer. My theory of steady heat makes the Snuggle Safe last longer was proven when I had 3 cats using the heated bed throughout the third night. I heated the product up before going to to bed. Cats were on and off it all night in single or pairs for the 3 day trial. The first two nights it was cold after the 10-12 hours of use. On the third day, I woke up to all 3 sardine cats in the one heated bed. It was still warm. I have yet to test the hot water bottle theory, however I assume it should work if refilled on a timely manner to mimic the animal body heat. A few notes: None of the dogs liked it when it was the Snuggle Safe alone (with cover). It is hard like a rock. My dogs like soft and slushy sleeping areas, so it was wrapped in a cotton quilt in order to get the canines to try it as well. It was put in between the top half folds, so the heat was actually felt. They did use it as well. The fact they have the instruction table for heating time vs wattage on the Snuggle Safe bottom was a savior. I never had to worry about a saving the instruct paper.

heats up nice

It's too warm for them to actually use this but I tried it out in the microwave and it gets nice and warm -- I think it will be really nice for them come winter

Unsurpassed heating pad not needing electric

I foster for a local rescue, often special needs or kittens including neo natal, I also use the K & H electric heating pads which are awesome as well, but these are exceptional in that they do not need electric, stay warm for hours and are great to have on hand to warm and put into carriers for transport if a vet appointment is needed.

Bean loves it

My cat loved it after it cooled down for a couple hours. Definitely put it under blankets until it cools down! Also if your animal is more than 6 pounds, it may be too small for your pet.

good, could be better

I have a 6 pound chihuahua who shakes 24/7, she loves the warmth of the disc but it’s a bit hard and uncomfortable to lay on, we tried it under the blanket but heat doesn’t seem to transfer as well. Good buy but could be better designed.

Keeping babies warm

These microwave heat pads were a request of a shelter that I support with chewy products when I can. They have vast experience in the needs of abandoned and neglected baby kittens and temperature regulations requires diligence and the right type of warmth. These heat pads are the method they prefer. My gift to them was the purpose of this purchase.

Nifty on-the-go Heating Pad

I was surprised to find this on sale! I had heard good reviews from other hedgehog owners and was recommended this when I traveled with my hedgehog. Even though it takes about 5 minutes to warm up, it stays warm for many hours and seems comfortable enough for my hedgehog to sleep on if she would like.
