My 8 month one goldendoodle is a very picky eater. He does not like eating out of the bowl but would eat off the ground. Each feeding we put his food in here and he will eat every bite. Occasionally we put peanut butter on it and he loved it like that. As always supervised is best. Even on hardwood floor it moves so it can flip over easy.
Great lick mat! I soak kibble and squish it into the honeycomb, then stick it in the freezer. t's thick and doesn't warp in the dishwasher, which is awesome! Just wish it has suction cups at the back, my dog pushes as he licks but otherwise it's great
No failing of the product really, it's just fine, but didn't work for my purposes. My dog licks the rug in my kitchen at my feet while I'm cooking for hours, seemingly as a bonding activity to be near me, and can't be stopped, so I thought I could wean her from it by putting this mat where I want her to be, not underfoot acquiring hairballs in her GI. Unfortunately what happens is that she successfully licks the mat, thereby getting a fattening treat she doesn't need, before just still moving on to the rug after that. I guess it doesn't last long enough, unless you majorly add calories to your creature's diet. I guess that's the flaw.
These are great for my two ACD’s when I need a few minutes of silence. I usually do low calorie blends and freeze so they last a bit longer. I think people don’t realize that this is not a toy that you can leave them alone with and it will keep them occupied for hours. If there’s no food in it, obviously your dog will resort in chewing the actual toy if you are not watching them.
We have tried a few different lick mats at this house and this is by far the favorite. We now have two in each size because it is that great. As usual, the sodapup material is strong and dishwasher safe (although we usually hand wash them), but this design is their best work yet. It is somehow hard enough that it takes my dog a bit of time to finish but easy for me to clean. Also, it is cute.
Pup Loved it but it was destroyed after one use even with supervision
First impression was fantastic. It was fun to watch my pair of small breed dogs spend a very happy hour licking two teaspoon of frozen wet food out of it. They really had to work for it, and clearly enjoyed the challenge. I considered taking it away when it was 98% finished, but handed it back to let them have the fun of extracting the last bits. Instead the four month old puppy, who has nothing but tiny baby teeth and an adorably weak bite, immediately chomped the corner completely off. This mat is great in theory, but that's way too fragile. If it can't even stand up to even a weakling puppy's quick exploratory bite, forget about leaving it to the ministrations of a dog who has adult incisors and time to kill.
I found these lick mats after seeing TikToks about enrichment at mealtime for dogs and my dog loves it! It has been super helpful in crate training my rescue dog. I fill it with his wet food and pop it in the freezer for a couple of hours to firm up and it keeps him occupied for 30-45 minutes and helps drain his mental energy. It's very easy to clean and the silicone stays put on the floor of his crate. He loves it so much I ordered another one so I'd have an extra!
Got this for my younger cat and his lickable treats. It keeps him busy and happy while my older cat enjoys his treat in peace.
I’ve been wanting to try one of these for our 10month old puppy. He enjoyed licking in his crate while we ate our dinner and at some point he decided it was a chew toy and destroyed the corner. I should have known better as he chews everything!
