How to Apply Soft Paws®
For Kittens: Do not trim kittens' claws before applying Soft Paws. You will need sufficient claw surface for the glue to adhere properly.
-
Trim the tip of your cat's nails. Trim just enough to allow the nail cap to fit all the way to the base of the nail. Watch a video tutorial here.
-
Fill nail caps 1/3 full with adhesive. Gently squeeze the nail cap to evenly distribute the glue and release any air bubbles. If the glue oozes out of the nail cap, you have inserted too much adhesive. Remove some of the glue by squeezing it onto a paper towel.
- Extend nails by gently pressing thumb on top with index finger on bottom of paw -- slide nail caps onto nail.
-
Observe cat for five minutes before release. You can play with your cat or feed some of kitty's favorite food to distract for a few minutes.

Great Solution to Unwanted Scratching
By Carly19 on Jan 5, 2021
Our 4 year old kitty recently took up the habit of scratching on our walls and doors. We wake up constantly in the middle of the night from the scratching and it's causing a lot of damage. We decided to try out these claw caps to see how it would go. He doesn't typically like his paws being touched and we've never even attempted to clip his nails. We did have to sedate him slightly but once we clipped his nails, it took a total of 3 minutes to get the rest of the caps on and he doesn't even seem to notice them. He does still paw on the walls and the doors a little bit but he cannot scratch them now and cause more damage. This was a great solution and is definitely a more humane solution than Our 4 year old kitty recently took up the habit of scratching on our walls and doors. Why did I wait so long!
By Krissie on Dec 28, 2020
So happy I finally tried these! It would be a comedic threat to my cat on a regular basis when the darn scratching wouldn’t cease. I reached my breaking point and purchased. Thought it was going to be nightmarish getting them on. NOPE he just laid there and watched me apply each one. Nipped at me twice when I had a little difficulty maneuvering. I couldn’t believe it! Hasn’t messed with them at all besides a little licking much after the fact. I am SO HAPPY. A full night sleep without jumping out of bed chasing my fat boy off the bedroom carpet for scratching. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this! My boy is 6 years, and a bigggg boy! And he don’t mind them one bit! Give them a try!!!!

Saved my moms furniture - great tool for training
By Sarah on Jan 9, 2021
New cat immediately tried to destroy the antique furniture in my moms home but her future was spared thanks to these claw caps. Took 2 try’s, a YouTube video, and only one claw with a little glued hair to figure it out. Our sweet cat was able to learn to scratch the post and no longer needs the caps! Yay. Word of caution- my cat did get her little claw stuck in a small loop in a toy. Claw could go in the loop but the claw cap didn’t allow it to come out. Just be aware of the features of the toys they play with while caps are on.

Glued myself to my cat D:
By Kricket on Dec 19, 2020
Good idea, but the glue applicator is a nightmare and there is no guidance in the instructions to make it easier. I checked the package and the website before I started but found no useful information. The included applicators do not fit onto the glue tube, so I cut the top off, which made it fit even worse, rendering one tube useless. Tried the other tube, applicator fell off while I was filling the nail cap. Glue got on my fingers but I didn't want to waste the nail cap, so I ended up gluing my finger to my cat's paw. She had been tolerating the process really well up until then but was understandably dismayed when I had to remove myself in order to continue. Very difficult to apply
By Bennett on Nov 9, 2020
I unfortunately was not able to apply these to my cat. The glue comes with a separate tip that you add after you cut the top of the glue off. However, the applicator would not attach to the glue tube (I tried both glue tubes) and would pop off when I tried to squeeze out glue into the tip of the soft claw. I was unable to fill the tips as directed and ended up getting so frustrated and throwing the whole set away. Maybe others were more tactful than I am but I was certainly not going to be able to fill these properly with the glue with the tools provided.

Should have bought these sooner
By Penny on Jan 1, 2021
These were easy to apply after watching a YouTube video on the product. I wish these came with more instructions, but after figuring out how to use them application was simple. They seem much more comfortable for my cat & softer than I expected. No more clawing at me or the carpet!

Saved My Furniture!
By Alli on Nov 25, 2020
I just got new suede furniture. I also have a cat. I tried everything from double-sided tape, MULTIPLE kinds of scratching posts, and cat deterrent spray. Nothing worked. I bought these as a last-ditch effort. My cat did well with them, she pulled at them a bit but eventually stopped. They were easy to apply and do fall off on occasion, but that might be my fault if I didn’t use enough adhesive. I fill in missing ones as needed. They don’t hurt my cat and she still walks and climbs normally, but my furniture is saved.

Love Soft Claws
By uncflygirl on Dec 29, 2020
We have been using them for one of our young cats who can sometimes be a little aggressive when he wants to play. We have older cats who we are afraid he will hurt. They usually stay on about 6 weeks although some may come off after a week and some stay on for two months. We have one of our vet techs apply them.

worked great!
By Jill on Dec 31, 2020
You definitely need two people to put these on - one to hold the cat, and one to apply the caps. Once applied my cat didn’t seem to notice or mind them. They stayed on well and helped with his destructive scratching

Not happy this time
By Nita on Jan 9, 2021
I bought these in the past with no issue and they stayed on for over 2 months. This order the glue was extremely hard to get out of container and tips came off within a week.
