Transition Instructions

Switching to any new dog food should be a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Replace 25% of the current food with Solid Gold for 2 to 3 days, then feed a little more Solid Gold over the next 5 - 7 days until your dog is eating Solid Gold exclusively. This gradual transition will help reduce digestive upsets that may occur due to the change in diet.

    GSD Loves this food

By Koda on Feb 22, 2021

Well Koda always protests with kibble, but one of her meals are usually a high protein kibble likes this, and she likes this more than the numerous other brands we have tried (even high-end like Origen, Nulo Challenger). So I think I can say she loves it! It is probably the highest protein kibble I have found AND it is under $50. Also, the smell of the kibble is decent which is a plus because most kibble smells like waste (to me). Possibly could even say it smells like blueberry! Maybe! Nutrition wise its high protein, low carb, I add a hip and joint supplement to make it ideal for my 2 year old German Shepherd. Added to our regular rotation of kibbles. ALSO, this is $59.99 everywhere else Well Koda always protests with kibble, but one of her meals are usually a high protein kibble likes this, and she likes this more than the numerous other brands we have tried (even high-end like Origen, Nulo Challenger). happy and full

By sillieb on Apr 7, 2021

My 6mo old soft coated wheaten terrier / Australian Shepherd mix was apprehensive the first 2 days but now she gobbles it all up with no issues. She was probably not sure about it bc I didn’t take the time to transition. My smaller havachon even tries to sneak in to try to eat some.

Not a good experience with Chewy BUT the dog food itself is GREAT!

By Rusty on Apr 21, 2021

I experienced 3 delays before I got my dog food. I spoke with 3 people to try to correct this and it took over a week to get my dog food. It was not a good experience with Chewy. The dog food itself is GREAT!

    Good food for picky eater

By Hemingway on Feb 9, 2021

My 6 month old corgi is a very picky eater. I feed her science diet puppy, but she gets bored of it. Evey month or so I get a small bag of a different food to sprinkle on top her regular diet. The things we do for love :P

The Perfect Food for a Working Dog

By AtlasandMe on Dec 2, 2020

I've tried over a dozen foods for my 75lbs lab mix who is my service dog. He loves it and has gained weight and muscle on the food brilliantly (we've struggled to keep weight on him because he is so active). He also has smaller, firmer bowel movements and significantly reduced amounts of gas and itchiness (his coat is so much softer too!) which are huge perks to this food. We will definitely continue using this food as well as the SeaMeal supplement from Solid Gold.

    High performance

By Lisa on Oct 23, 2020

Haven't used very long adding to our new family member who is a great dane. Having a hard time keeping weight on him. Hopefully this will work. He is handling well as we are mixing with his current food.

He acts like I'm torturing him

By Jackie on May 10, 2020

I bought this as a replacement for his previous food and I have to encourage him to eat it. This may sound silly, but my dog LIVES FOR FOOD. He will eat anything, or so I thought. So for him to not like something it must be awful.

    UPSET TUMMY

By Raven on Dec 12, 2019

So, I purchased this for 1 of my dogs and it gave her an upset tummy (very loose stool). *Yes, I transitioned her properly. She started having crate accidents daily. Maybe it was just too rich for her, not sure, but we have switched and thank goodness she is back to normal! (I do use another Solid Gold dry food and it has performed well with other dogs.)

formula change not ideal for diabetic dog

By Jeanette on Nov 10, 2019

I did hours of research finding a low carb, low glycemic (veggies/fruits), high protein grain free dog food when my dog became diabetic. I was thrilled to find Solid Gold Barking at the Moon Hi Protein Duck formula with 25% carbs. Unfortunately, the new formula contains potatoes (high glycemic sugar spiker) which isn't the ideal carb for diabetics. The rest of the ingredients are still very impressive, but I will buy a different dog food with all good "diabetic" carbs to avoid adding unnecessarily to his blood sugar which equates to a higher dose of insulin.
