We used Solid Gold for years when we had 2 younger doggies and they always loved it. My American Bulldog (the elder) started getting super picky as she got older and we ended up switching brands to find something she would eat. After she passed, we continued feeding our bandogge Hills Science and Orijen, but he was having skin and bowel problems (and he did not like the Hills low-cal!). We switched back to Solid Gold bc he had always loved it and I can say our old guy is back to regular bowel movements, improved skin, and is actually excited to eat again!!
After 2 weeks of slow transition to this product (only made it to 50%), both my senior dogs' gas is so bad we had to stop. They seemed to like the taste though. The search for high quality, gut-agreeable, tasty dog food continues.
While this food has some good qualities it has too many legumes. Had my senior’s digestive track all upset.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag to dump the dog food into my storage container and out falls a 4 1/2” long piece of steel shaped like a knife. Being afraid that there might be more pieces in the bag, I called Chewy and was given credit for the bag since I didn’t want another bag of that brand shipped.
Changing Charlie over to Solid Gold...why did we wait 16yrs to do this!! My hubby sat and watched vets talk about dog food and what was needed to make our dog healthy. What's the use at 16! To know we are now doing the best we can for him.
My Borzoi is enjoying this dry food...which she gets as a "snack" between meals. This breed is very "picky" about foods - so it was surprising that she took to this brand so easily.
My dog has been eating adult food from Solid Gold but as she’s getting older, I decided to switch her to the senior food. So far, she loves it, she goes crazy for it during meal time. Very happy with the size since she’s small. Overall, great food for seniors.
Ruby had no problems transitioning from her previous solid gold food to this one for seniors but then she is a golden.
My very picky 13 year old beagle seems to enjoy this. It's completely not normal to have a beagle that does not eat everything in site, but my guy is special...or spoiled! He's been having diarrhea a lot lately, but this seems to have cleared that right up!
I have been searching for a food that fit the needs of my aging GSPs...AND one that they would eat. This fits the bill. High quality and my dogs think it is delicious. We went through a lot of foods before this one and I think we have finally found something we're all happy with!
