For Adult dogs, feed Sport Dog Food either dry or moistened with water. Begin with the recommendations provided above and adjust to maintain body weight. We recommend feeding your dog at least twice a day. The feeding chart above is the total amount of food we recommend for the day. Divide the total by the number of feedings you will provide your dog.

Reproduction: Provide increasing amounts of food the latter half of gestation. The amount may be twice the normal intake. Feed to consumption during lactation.

Growth: Introduce dry food around the 5th week.

Always provide a source of clean fresh water. Feeding amounts listed are based on an 8 oz. standard measuring cup.

Sport Dog Food is complete and nutritionally balanced for dogs of all breeds and life stages. Keep in mind though, that our recipes are formulated for active, sporting, and working dogs which means that our formulas are more calorie-dense than your typical kibble.

If your dog is not a sporting breed but is still highly active, Sport Dog Food can provide the higher calorie content he needs to fulfill his energy requirements. If your dog is a normally active or under active breed, you should be careful to avoid overfeeding.

When changing from your current food to a Sport Dog Food formula, slowly incorporate into your dog's diet over 10-14 days.  We encourage gradually reducing current food while increasing Sport Dog Food amounts.  The amounts suggested may vary according to age, weight, temperament, activity level, breed, and surroundings.

Also keep in mind that the feeding amounts of all Sport Dog Food formulas is typically less than the average dog food on the market as our kcals per cup can be 15-25% more.

Please pay close attention to your feeding amounts.  Compare the kcals per cup to your current formula and do not overfeed.  Accidentally overfeeding is a common cause of loose stool and eventually weight gain.  Most customers have reported they are feeding much LESS than their previous formula.

Even though your dog might be eating the same protein as your previous formula, they may still need more time to gradually get used to what is NOT in our formulas. Especially the elimination of Beet Pulp, Tomato Pomace, Flax Seed and lower grade proteins like Pork.

Do Not Overfeed. Accidentally overfeeding is a common cause of loose stool and eventually weight gain.

Be sure to keep fresh water available at all times.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 10-14 day period.

Instructions

Sport Dog Food is naturally preserved. Keep dry kibble in a dark, dry area protected from extreme temperature swings and away from direct sunlight, Be sure to keep out of extreme heat. It is best to keep in original bag. If you use a container to store your food, please remember to wash sidewalls of any residual oil before you refill. The wrong storage container could cause a greasy film to build up on the container’s sides that will go rancid, cause the food to be distasteful and hasten food spoilage of any new food you add to the container.

Didn’t work well for my dogs

    By on

I was excited to try this food because I was looking for a high-quality food that wasn’t grain-free and did not contain peas or lentils. This is the first variety of this brand I tried. I picked it because I’ve had good results with whitefish foods in the past. One of my Dobermans liked it fine. The other had to be coaxed to eat it sometimes. It made both dogs gassy and gave them soft stool that was hard to pick up, which really made things more difficult when we took our daily walks. I wanted to love it, but I think I’m going to have to try a different brand. I’ve now tried two varieties of this brand, and it just doesn’t seem to agree with them.

    Works for golden retriever

    By on

My 1.5 year old golden was ready to transition to adult food and I am so happy I found this one! I feel good about meat as the #1 ingredient, ancient grains and a simple formulation vs. any of the grain free options out there that are filled with legumes (DCM concerns!). He was on a LID food before and he didn't have any problems transferring to this food. Seems good for his coat but doesn't make him oily. It is made by a small company in the USA so I am happy to support a smaller business for a great product. Sport Dog offers sample bags to test it out but you have to order those directly from the SD website- chewy doesn't have them but they're out there.

    First Class

    By on

This food has been great for Katie. She had no problem going from one to another. She seems to look forward to getting fed now. Her overall attitude is different/better. I'm so thankful my Chewy Rep explained this food. She took time to tell me what it contained, etc. She was detailed and empathetic.

    Best food for fertility

    By on

My Yorkies absolutely love this food, they eat every morsel as soon as it hits their bowl. Ive struggled with finding a dog foid without phytoestrogens. After much research Soort Dog Food was the ONLY food i found with no flaxseed or peas. I started my breeding female on this food 4 months ago, until then she had 2 small litters of 2 pups and 1 pup. I truly felt her food was a big part of our issue. We just had our 1st litter since feeding this food and we have 5 healthy babies!!! I can not say enough how much i appreciate the quality and ingredients of my babies food. Thank you and God Bless you Sport Dog Food family!!!

    DASH DIGS IN !

    By on

I have many allergies to my people's chagrin. But of the few food elements I CAN have, this Sport Dog Food fits me to a "T". I really enjoy it immensely and it only has 1 ingredient that I'm not supposed to have but it is minimal. It is a tasty, healthy and hearty food that supports an active Lab like myself.
