Transition Instructions

Sport Dog food is nutrient rich with a significantly high percentage of animal protein so a full 10-14 day transition period is suggested.

  • Switched to this brand for the allergy reasons

    By on Top 500 Contributor

My dog was fine on the Beef Puppy Formula, I ordered this due to the product being out again, and it has caused the allergies to flare back up. Was not hard to transition my dog from his typical food to this, just disappointed this was made with allergy causing fillers unlike the other food. My dog has been very itchy since I switched him 5 days ago. The itches came back in full force today, and have been gradually building. The kibble sizes are nice and big-- Their just very inconsistent. These pieces also have a lot of crumble to them. Very dry.

  • Best Dog Food

While initially there were some problems with distribution because of the high demand for this food, I have had no issues since. If Chewy doesn't have it, it is so easy to contact the people who own the company and get it shipped direct from them, albeit at a higher price. I had fed my dogs (Malinois and Dalmatians) Taste of the Wild for years with no complaints other than soft (not runny) stools that were difficult to pick up. At the suggestion of another trainer, I decided to try this food, and I won't go back. Cleaner stools, no skin issues, shinier coats, and their teeth look much cleaner.

  • Great if its in stock

    By on

Only a 3 star recommendation because although all 4 of my GSD's love the food, its out of stock more than in which leaves us scrambling for a replacement when we run low {even on auto ship}. One of my pups is super high energy and actually lost weight on this formula also, so we made the decision to switch back to our previous food. Once sport dog and chewy can keep up with the demand, we may consider a switch back for 3 of the GSD's.. until then.. we'll keep on our quest for the perfect large breed Grain free fit that all 4 love.

I did a lot of research on the food was very happy with it. My Cane Corso loved it. but its hard to find. I got 4 bags (50#)into feeding and its went out of stock twice. this last time it has been out for a week. I'm running very low and have picked a new food. The staff At chewy was helpful but I cant count on the supply. Sorry Sport dog.

Our GSD has EPI and needs to eat grain free dog food. He used to be on Whole Earth Farms food, but we had to change it due to allergies and skin irritation. He has been doing very well since we switched him to Sport Dog food. He coat is shiny again and he is gaining weight. I highly recommend this dog food.

  • Love it, so do our dogs.

We have always fed taste of the wild or merrick bc we have a dog who is highly allergic to any type of chicken product. We were told great things about this food and did tons of research! This food is amazing. Our dogs allergies have cleared up, their coats are shiney and they have solid poop again!!!!!! Thanks for such a great food!!!!

  • He Loves It

    By on

Christian is a 140 pound Great Pyrenees...works all night protecting and patrolling the 147 acres that he calls home. We want him to have the best, non GMO formula. We've gone through a few different brands, but we often have to add something to make it more desirable to him; he seems to really like this and gobbles it up, even dry.

  • Cant keep item in stock.

    By on

My dogs dont really like to skip meals. And this product is repeatedly out of stock. Even when i activated autoship to try n make sure my dogs never go without food, they wont warn you thats its out of stock either. What am I expected to do when my dogs dont have the right kind of food to eat? I understand to go out of stock once, but this is the 3rd or 4th time.

  • Great Food

    By on

One of my golden retrievers has extreme food sensitivities. This food has been great! Both dogs had some trouble adjusting to it so I FB messaged the company. They responded immediately and pointed out I was feeding my dogs too large of servings! (I was basing serving size on their previous food) When I decreased the serving size they both did great.

Due to the fact that Chewy was out of the Sport Dog food that I have on auto ship this was the ONLY food available. It is too low in fat so I must add Dyne to their meals. It would probably be fine for my seniors but on my pregnant females and active dogs.
