What are buffalo meal and pork meal really made of? I'm not sure I understand the difference in terminology of the different meat products.
Answer by ChewyNov 19, 2019
The difference between a meat and a meat meal is that the meal of a meat is simply dehydrated meat. It does not contain any feet, necks, organs, etc.

Addicting Toy

This little gorilla is an awesome toy for my 1.5-year-old beagle/golden doodle mix. As soon as I stuffed some treats inside, he wouldn’t stop chewing and playing with it. He’s destroyed almost every toy we own, but this one has held up so far. I agree with other reviewers that the treat hole is too small, but I will try cutting off one of the flaps, and that should help. I’m glad I finally found something to keep Brady’s teeth clean!

my elite herding dog likes this food

My Aussie was on frozen raw, then a New Zealand air dried food, and now I have switched to this kibble due to the major price increases on his previous foods. I noticed the price on the sport dog has actually gone down since I bought it....5 stars for that! The ingredients are pretty good....no grains or legumes. The non-meat is sweet potato and potato. The benefit of his previous foods has been very little shedding. So far I have not noticed an increase in shedding but he has only been eating it for a few weeks. My dog is a working dog and burns a lot of calories so that is why I decided to get this food specifically rather than a food generally fed to sedentary indoor dogs.

Perfect food for my four dogs

Been feeding Herding Dog for a long time. Cured any stomach issues and dogs love it! Excellent health and coats. Highly recommended.

Struck out with this version.

This really surprised me because our vizsla, who I thought would go crazy over the buffalo/sweet potato will only eat it out of necessity unfortunately. Our other dog, a labrador has no problem whatsoever (how many labradors would?). Anyway, love the Sport Dog Food brand but this is going to be a one and done. Really like the ingredients, just wish both of our dogs did too.

finally...

We've been looking for the right food for our 3 year old golden since he was a pup. There always seemed to be an issue. He either had loose stools, low energy or something made him itchy. This food is the ticket. It's the first food we've fed that has no poultry and it's grain free without any of the potentially harmful legumes, plus natural taurine in the formula so I know it's safe for my boy. It might seem expensive, but even though he is highly active he's not a working dog, and only 2.5 cups a day lasts us about 6 weeks (so it costs us less per month than the foods we've fed in the past). He has so much energy, his stool is SOLID and even better, he LOVES it.

Not for us

My husky loved this food, but sadly after introducing it over two weeks, she's started regurgitating her food and water multiple times per day. It's been about 4 days and doesn't appear to be going away. Huskies do have sensitive stomachs though, so I'll have to keep looking.

Clean Ingredients

Finally a formula that I feel good about giving my dogs! No legumes included which cause a lot of allergies in dogs, mine included. Sport Dog Food Company has great customer service as well! Thank you and please don't change!

New Formula?

Has the formula for this changed recently? I just got a new bag that smells different, appears different in shape and color, and my dog is not interested after previously being a fan. Would be nice if pet parents were advised when things change!!

Breeder Recommended!

I found out about this food from the breeder of my 3 year old Aussie, Tino. Ever since we got him he’s had digestive issues (i.e loose stool) and it was a battle for 2 years of his life. He was first on Fromm which wasn’t bad but then Chewy stopped carrying it and I switched over to Canidae which was recommended by Chewy. My fur babe kept having irregular stool so I knew something had to be done. I made the switch probably close to a year ago and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I can’t rave about this any more - it’s so great! AND it has taurine which supports heart health. A lot of “grain free” foods do not have that which is why dogs were having heart problems on those types of foods (according to my vet). Yes, it’s pricey but if you use auto-ship you get a little break but honestly I’d pay anything to keep my fur babe healthy.

approved by picky eater

I waited to review this product after a month. I decided to change my dog’s over to something better than their original food. I have to say I absolutely love this food for my dogs. I have a German Shepherd who is very picky, and refuses to eat for majority of foods. This is definitely approved by him. He even eats it dry! I really recommend this food for a dog with allergies such as my Labrador. It’s given both my dogs beautiful shiny coats, and no more itchy scratchy skin. In this picture below shows a before and after within a week of feeding this food. 10/10 recommend. Thanks SportDogFood! You have gained a customer.
