For Adult dogs, feed Sport Dog Food either dry or moistened with water. Begin with the recommendations provided above and adjust to maintain body weight. We recommend feeding your dog at least twice a day. The feeding chart above is the total amount of food we recommend for the day. Divide the total by the number of feedings you will provide your dog.

Reproduction: Provide increasing amounts of food the latter half of gestation. The amount may be twice the normal intake. Feed to consumption during lactation.

Growth: Introduce dry food around the 5th week.

Always provide a source of clean fresh water. Feeding amounts listed are based on an 8 oz. standard measuring cup.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 10-14 day period.

    SO FAR, SO GOOD

    By on

Got this as an alternate to another Sport Dog variety that was out of stock. Both of our dogs like it with no reservations and their coats remain soft and shiny. We do mix with another brand that we do NOT switch off and have had coat and skin issues in the past. Fingers crossed that this mixture continues working.

    Grain-free Pea-free

    By on

I have 2 Goldens who are at risk for cardiomyopathy on gluten-free kibble. Switching them to this pea-free kibble. We’re still in the transition but so far no issues. The kibble size is small and has a very slight oil feel which I think reflects the quality of ingredients. One of my cats loves it too - he begs for pieces when I am filling the dogs’ bowls.

    best dog food

    By on

I researched all dog foods to find the best for me, meaning, none of the ingredients that I want to avoid, like the cheap fillers grains, rice, by products. No canola oil or flax. No beans peas legumes, or their evil cousins. A solid food from a smaller company not the big corporations. Started feeding my dachshunds this Sporting dog and their coats cleared up. One had pimples some places in her coat, that is now gone. The dandruff she had, is now gone. I now rotate them on the different Elite series formulas. Added benefit, they eat less because it's quality, compared to the excellent choices they had before!

    Dog does great

    By on

Saw this food was pea, pea starch, pea protein free. I have a 2 yr old lab/bernese/catahoula mix and be was having digestive issues and this was the only food that basically stopped his diarrhea. We tried grain and grain free and he thrives on the whitefish grain free.

    Best Dry Food I’ve Found

    By on

I have fed my three dogs many different high quality brands of food, and none compare to Sport Dog Food Elite. I really appreciate the exact percentages of each major ingredient. All of my dogs’ overall health is the best it’s ever been. No more itching, small stools with very little odor, excellent skin and coat condition, and even improved breath. The small kibble size is very helpful, too, since one of my three fur babies is a small dog.

    Very happy with SDF

    By on

I have been feeding SDF for over a year, through some big changes in the company. Plenty of people try to avoid certain ingredients, and SDF is about the only food out there that accommodates that. But if you're looking specifically to avoid sodium selenite, which is a known carcinogen, it's nearly impossible. So THANK YOU, SDF. My dogs have tried Cub and every recipe of Elite, and they haven't met an SDF they didn't like or do well on. We appreciate the grain friendly options as well. As long as there is no sodium selenite in their food, we will keep feeding it.

    Excellent quality food

    By on

My boy is allergic to green beans, peas and carrots. Finding this food is the best thing that happened for him. The quality is fantastic and it's made in the U.S.A. I would highly recommend this food for any dog.
