For Adult dogs, feed Sport Dog Food either dry or moistened with water. Begin with the recommendations provided above and adjust to maintain body weight. We recommend feeding your dog at least twice a day. The feeding chart above is the total amount of food we recommend for the day. Divide the total by the number of feedings you will provide your dog.

Reproduction: Provide increasing amounts of food the latter half of gestation. The amount may be twice the normal intake. Feed to consumption during lactation.

Growth: Introduce dry food around the 5th week.

Always provide a source of clean fresh water. Feeding amounts listed are based on an 8 oz. standard measuring cup.

Sport Dog Food is complete and nutritionally balanced for dogs of all breeds and life stages. Keep in mind though, that our recipes are formulated for active, sporting, and working dogs which means that our formulas are more calorie-dense than your typical kibble.

If your dog is not a sporting breed but is still highly active, Sport Dog Food can provide the higher calorie content he needs to fulfill his energy requirements. If your dog is a normally active or under active breed, you should be careful to avoid overfeeding.

When changing from your current food to a Sport Dog Food formula, slowly incorporate into your dog's diet over 10-14 days.  We encourage gradually reducing current food while increasing Sport Dog Food amounts.  The amounts suggested may vary according to age, weight, temperament, activity level, breed, and surroundings.

Also keep in mind that the feeding amounts of all Sport Dog Food formulas is typically less than the average dog food on the market as our kcals per cup can be 15-25% more.

Please pay close attention to your feeding amounts.  Compare the kcals per cup to your current formula and do not overfeed.  Accidentally overfeeding is a common cause of loose stool and eventually weight gain.  Most customers have reported they are feeding much LESS than their previous formula.

Even though your dog might be eating the same protein as your previous formula, they may still need more time to gradually get used to what is NOT in our formulas. Especially the elimination of Beet Pulp, Tomato Pomace, Flax Seed and lower grade proteins like Pork.

Do Not Overfeed. Accidentally overfeeding is a common cause of loose stool and eventually weight gain.

Be sure to keep fresh water available at all times.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 10-14 day period.

Instructions

Sport Dog Food is naturally preserved. Keep dry kibble in a dark, dry area protected from extreme temperature swings and away from direct sunlight, Be sure to keep out of extreme heat. It is best to keep in original bag. If you use a container to store your food, please remember to wash sidewalls of any residual oil before you refill. The wrong storage container could cause a greasy film to build up on the container’s sides that will go rancid, cause the food to be distasteful and hasten food spoilage of any new food you add to the container.

Truly Unique Dog Food

Sport Dog Food formulas are made without peas, lentils or flax to minimize the risk of allergies and inflammatory disease. Their recipes include carefully chosen ingredients that promote good heart health, strong immunity and regular digestion, so your dog can always be the best at what he does.

    Best food for active dogs

    By on

Love that all their formulas have no peas, corn, wheat or soy! We added a 1 year old Great Dane to our family and struggled to find a food that worked for her. Always giant cow patty poops and having to feed her 8-10 cups a day but still not keeping weight on. Tried several Purina products and other brands and nothing was working. Vet recommended a very pricey high fiber prescription diet but before switching decided to give this brand a try as we had used it with great success in the past - so happy we did! She now eats 4 cups a day and her body condition is perfect with a light covering on her ribs, great solid stool, and no itching. Perfect formula for finicky eater

    By on

Our pointer is a very finicky eater with a few food intolerances and was losing weight. After extensive research I found Sport Dog Food and am so happy Chewy carries this! The food is very high quality, doesn't use trivial ingredients as fillers and most important my dog LOVES it! His weight is perfect now and I am also happy that I am able to rotate formulas within the brand as well so my dog doesn't get bored. Highly recommend this brand!!

I have a very picky Belgian Malinios who does IPO, Agility, and rally so its very hard to keep weight on her. We mix this with the Turkey formula and she inhales her food every feeding.

    Price Change? No Notice?

    By on

WOW! A $10.00 price jump?!? I don't recall getting any notice that there would be such a significant price increase. We are on a regular shipment so I wasn't checking. Of course, this dog food works wonders for my dog and I would probably have still purchased it, but a heads up would have been very nice. I still want to purchase from Chewy.com because they have EXCELLENT customer service and have been very good to us as their customer.

An approved food that our dogs love

    By on

My two Silken Windhounds love this food. I even use the kibble as treats during training. We love it because of the great ingredients and we were determined to find a food that was grain free as well as legume free. Which is actually really hard to find. Thank you Sport Dog Food!! (And Chewy!!)

    Highly recommend

    By on

One of the best dry foods out there, high protein low carb, free of lots of ingredients that you can't avoid in other foods, good variety so you can easily rotate. I feed a handful of different brands in rotation but every other bag or more is sport dog food, my dogs do the best on it.

    Amazing food!

    By on

I have 4 dogs, one of which has a sensitivity to grains, legumes, and potatoes. We had a difficult time finding a food that he could eat that wouldn’t make him violently ill. We also needed a food that the other three dogs could eat and not break the bank. We found it with Sport Dog Food Elite. He has been stable now for 8 months and all four dogs have beautiful shiny coats. We are so happy with our choice of dog food and so is our boy! Highly recommended.

    Grain Free/Pea Free

    By on

Just trying this food for my dogs. All of them seem to like it and are doing well on it. I like the minimal ingredients and that Peas are not used to substitute for animal protein. I would like to try other flavors from this company but they are 'out of stock' (hence only giving four stars). :(
