About SportDOG

Dog Training Gear for Every Season

It’s important that your dog’s gear is built to withstand the elements you face in the field. That’s why nothing from SportDOG gets into your hands without rigid testing. Whether you and your dog are doing daily water training in summer or breaking through winter lake ice for long retrievals, SportDOG gear can handle it.

How Do the SportDOG Models Differ?

Most SportDOG e-collars are waterproof and rechargeable and feature tone, vibe and static stim settings. The big differences between the models are collar distance range, number of dogs one remote can talk to, and remote type. Choose from remotes with features like OLED display or a tactile dial for no-look operation.

Questions & Answers

Looking for a water toy for my GSD, he can be a bit of a chewer. Will this work for him?
Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2018
This toy does float and is made perfect for hunting prep, not too hard, not too soft. However, it may not work for determined chewers.

I have a 15 month old Jack Russell that weighs about 11 pounds but with her prey drive and tenacity you would think she’s bigger. Would this size be okay and if not, do you have a smaller one?
Answer by ChewyMay 19, 2020
The SportDOG Regular Plastic Dog Training Dummy measures 2 inches wide x 12 inches long and should be suitable for your dog. Currently the Training Dummy only comes in one size, regular.

how do you add air? do you open the valve and blow in like a balloon?
Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2019
If you have reduced the air using the valve at the top, the dummy can be re-inflated by opening this valve to allow air to fill the dummy again. If the dummy has been bent/pressed very flat, it may help to use pressure with your hands to help return it to its prior shape so this space can fill with air.

Where is this made? Where are the materials sourced from?
Answer by ChewyMay 25, 2022
This training dummy is sourced and manufactured in China.

Kimberlee

Our Labrador loves this fetch toy. It is easy for him to carry and find in the tall grass. Our dog is an aggressive chewer and has not found a fetch toy he cannot destroy given the chance so we would never leave him alone with it. But with that in mind he has had a ton of fun with it.

great for training

This is not a chew toy, it is designed to float and dog to swim and retrieve. I am not sure about the comments regarding this being broken very quickly. It is very good for us. My year old Labrador had been having lots of fun with it. I actually put scents on it and tried as well. It doesn’t soak/retain the scents too long.

Not for avid chewers.

This product is very well made but I own a 1 year-old Golden Retriever. She chewed a hole in the top of it in 15 minutes. For dogs further along in their training to be a bird dog may do fine.

Who’s the dummy?

Plug came out after my 4 month old pup chewed on it for less than 15 seconds. She ate it. Hopefully it will pass through her without any problems. Be careful! Otherwise the dummy does what it was designed to do....

Better than canvas

Our pup chewed up the canvas dummy. So far she has no problem being trained with this plastic dummy. It seems to be sturdy.

SportDOG training toy

We ordered this on the advice of our VET as our dog loves chewing on toys. He bit the end off within minutes and had to take it away so as not to ingest the plastic pieces...ugh... Would not recommend as a chew toy.

Not a chew toy

This is a good product if you use it only for training or exercising your dog. I throw it for my dog, wash it off and hang it out of her reach. She has numerous other chew toys and bones. The orange is nice because it can be seen in the snow. A scent should be added frequently when training hunting dogs because the vinyl does not hold scent as long as a canvas dummy.

great for my lab

My lab loves this to chew on while teething and fetch in the pool. She hasn’t broken through the plastic yet which is awesome.

Gone in less than 15 min

I assume this could handle a normal level bite and play however my 1 year old lab destroyed in within 15 min. A few tosses in the pool and then he bit down and it was done.
