Nourish your stallion with superior-quality nutrition by feeding him Standlee Premium Alfalfa Grab and Go Compressed Bale. The naturally sun-cured alfalfa forage is moderately high in protein, low in sugar, high in calories and digestible fiber to support the health of your equine friend. Feeding Instructions

Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount. This is especially important with baled and compressed forage since similar volumes of forage (a flake for example) vary in weight.

Cut the bands on compressed bales 8 to 10 hours before feeding to allow the bale to expand to avoid overfeeding.

Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses.

Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water.

Transition Instructions

Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee Forage over a 7-10 day period. Replace existing hay on a 1 to 1 basis with Standlee Forage.

  • Convenient and good quality

I love the Standlee products as it is so when I started using this as an afternoon lunch for my Drafts, I was very pleased. Especially since after I purchased a bale of alfalfa from a local farm and it was all sticks and very few leaves. This is full of leaves and is chopped to a size my seniors can eat easily. NOTE: Is IS dry and dusty. The flakes come apart easily and hard to keep whole so I use a large bucket, break it up, and feed per weight versus by "flake". - I have this on autoship since they go through a bale every week or so.

Just got it today 9/21/18. Will feed 1-2 pieces to horses on 9/22/18 after it finishes expanding the recommended 9-10 hours then will share horses review. Truthfully I was apprehensive but it looks like good alfalfa and it smells like really good alfalfa. Took photos and video of the process to share with those thinking about purchasing it. However video will not post. So far I am very happy I did think it might be bigger but we'll see after expansion. It had low dust overall and no funny smell just really nice alfalfa. At the bottom of wheel barrel in one photo is lose standard alfalfa from my feed store to compare.

  • Nice clean hay

Super rich alfalfa hay. Great for my two hard keepers coming into winter. Easy to open and keeps barn clean. My horses are mostly on pasture so this is a nice option for me.

  • Something fishy about this "hay"

    By on

Thought I'd try this in case of needing for a show or in times of drought. Opened up the bale of compressed silage like material. Not hay, its very crumbly and strange dyed green color. Also left it in a wheelbarrow to feed out. Flies were covering it in a minute! Regular hay bales stacked next to it and no flies ever on them. Wonder whats in it to attract flies??? Extreme expensive. I can buy over 5 and a half bales for what one of the fly bait bales costs. Not a good deal.

  • Good quality

    By on

Hay was very good quality. The bale was smaller than I expected but it is super convenient to move with the handle. Good quality alfalfa is not easy to find locally so this is worth it.

Poor quality more yellow than green fell apart very dusty just all around poor quality. The bag it was in had more dust than alfalfa and the bag was torn terribly.
