Feeding Instructions

Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount.

Feeding some long-stem forage (hay) may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices.

Horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed, Standlee Premium pellets are recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minutes or until properly softened.

Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses.

Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water.

Transition Instructions

Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee Forage over a 7-10 day period. Replace existing hay on a 1 to 1 basis with Standlee Forage.

  • Disappointed

    By on

I was disappointed in these pellets. I expected them to be the same rich green color as the alfalfa cubes, and as showed in the pictures on Standlee's website. Not so, they are very washed out and old looking and some of the pellets are extremely long. I soak these before feeding and my horse seems to be eating them fine, I just dont know how much nutrients they have in them. Also it is only a 40 pound bag as opposed to the 50 pound bag of rich dark green pellets I usually use. I probably wont buy these again.

Horses love it. Easy to store and feed. Less waste than feeding traditional hay bale. Love that is delivered right to the doorstep.

  • Goat crack

My two Nubians are head over heels for this. I think it actually saved them. They broke into their feed area on July 4th. Got their sweet feed bin open and the bin of these pellets. They love them so much that they pigged out on alfalfa instead of feed. No side effects. Zero waste, I was concerned the pellets would be too big. Nope. They adore them.

  • Great for geriatric pony!

    By on

We have a 23 year old pony, he has Cushings, and sadly, his molars are down to nothing! He was getting very skinny, once we learned about his teeth, we started him on the equivalent amount that he would have gotten in hay, (6 lb.s, twice a day), soaked it in plenty of hot water so that it was completely soft, and he loves it! Put all of his weight back on and looks healthy and happy!

Horses love the mash. My only issue is the supply. Many times lately it’s been unavailable.
