Our dog, Harry, is a super chewer. I bought him the Starmark Bento but he goes at it so enthusiastically he was eating too many treats, so we had to space it out some. The pickle is perfect for everyday, the treats are smaller, fit perfectly and take a lot of concentrated licking for him to get them out
No matter how far I shove these in, my pitty breaks them and gets them out in seconds. I wish they didn't have the thin break points.
After trying this treat with my dog, I've noticed a major potential issue with it. The first minor issue, is that my dog figured out how to pull it out of the toy within 30 seconds, so it just became a normal treat pretty quickly. The major issue is that this treat has thin spots at each bend, and it's very easy to break the treat apart at these spots. This creates a bunch of little choking hazards, made worse by how hard this treat is to chew. This is almost plastic-level tough and the small pieces it breaks into are too easy to swallow.
First, wet the treat for easy insertion. For stronger dogs push it in snuggly and let it dry. This should set up for hours of play, days for my golden. Putting in a small amount of peanut butter and cutting the treats into squares also gives a little reward. This company could provide better directions.
This goes along with my review of the pickle pocket toy that this treat is meant to be used with. It can be removed from the toy very easily and my dog consumed it in literally one bite. With sharp edges that is just unsafe. I have loved other Starmark treats and dispensers, but not this one.
I was looking for a treat that would keep our pup busy and give us a break every now and then. This is so tough, she can't get it out of the pickle and I not only had to stuff it, but get it back out for her!
These are as hard as a rock! My dog pulled them out easily and started chomping on it. I was so afraid she would break a tooth!
This is my husky's favorite treat toy. I put one in the green "pickle" that Starmark sells and it keeps her busy for 30 minutes or so. We love these treats!
Chester loves his "pickle" and I wouldn't have known about these had Chewy not sent me some....I break them up & put them as far as I can into the pickle... Thank you Chewy
I would recommend this for smaller dogs... mine ate it in seconds.
