what is the difference between a prong collar and a Starmark pro training collar?
Answer by ChewyOct 09, 2017
The Starmark Pro-Training Dog Collar is more gentle than a standard prong collar.

What are the widths of the small and large collars? I'm trying to decide between the two.
Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2018
The width of the Small collar is 3/4 inch and the Large collar is 1 inch wide.

How do I hook up the safety chain
Answer by ChewyJun 14, 2021
The safety loop makes a loop by pushing some of the fabric through one of the metal rings as shown in the attached images. The end ring then attaches to the leach along with the Pro-Training Collar.

Will this collar cause discoloration in my dog's white fur like the regular metal prong collars do?
Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
Fur staining hasn't been reported with these plastic prongs.

you get what you pay for

I was hoping for an alternative to the "brand name" interlocking teeth plastic dog training collar. This was a slightly cheaper version of the same thing, I thought. The plastic interlocking teeth are solid and work well, but the problem is with the very thin fabric loop that connects to the leash. (This is shown at the top of the product photo). This loop is the cheapest part of the collar, and this is where all of the friction and tension happen.

Use it everyday

Raised my last Boxer on this collar so when it was time, I’m using it now to walk my 8 month old Boxer pup. As an elder, I can’t have the squirrel, other dog or flying leaf lung! She is already well trained to walk and this collar gives me the extra confidence. If your dog however is a terrific puller, get a trainer first. I’m of the school to train, not restrain.

Very Tough to Remove Links

It does what it should do for my 11 month old pulling Staffy. It slows him down once he realizes pulling makes him feel his collar. It was 2 looks too long from giving him the correct fit around is puppy rolls. I was finally able to unhook the 2nd from the beginning link but unhooking 2 that are together hurts your hands/fingers and it's taxing. I worked with it being a little too loose but had to keep turning it. I'm going to order something different that you can remove sections without your fingers hurting in the end.

Great collar!

Have 2 five month old Rotti/Pit mixes who were doing well on leashed walks but would have reactionary pulls/lunges as young pups may. This collar was magic. It was the missing piece of the puzzle. There is always slack in the leash on our walks. I liked the plastic design that was more appealing than the metal version.

Plastic prong collar works pretty well

Very reasonable price on this item. I bought it because it wasn’t quite ready to go all the way to a metal prong collar. This works much better than a regular Martingale; it definitely gets her attention. You have to be very careful to adjust it tight enough and get it right up behind the ears. You don’t want those prongs poking into the dogs trachea.

plastic prong collar

We use it every time we want our Cane Corso girl to walk on her leash. I’ve tried everything but the metal prong collar and this is a fantastic humane way to control your dog when needed. I can walk her with barely holding onto the leash. I recommended this collar several times. <3

Too difficult

I like the idea of having more control on-leash with my very strong dog. I've used 2 different harnesses with little effect. And she's been to several obedience classes. I wanted to avoid the traditional metal prong collar. Well, it was very difficult to open the collar. And then I couldn't remove 2 links to get the correct fit. I couldn't snap the links back together. I have arthritis in my hands and this collar is beyond my strength. I'll have to get a metal one.

No More Pulling

This collar works perfectly for my English bulldog! I wanted to avoid using a metal training collar, and the plastic was the perfect solution for me and my dog.

Great when properly used

I absolutely love this collar and it’s the only way my dog will take corrections. If buying any training tool always remember to research how to properly use them before buying so you don’t injure your dog. This collar works like a charm for my large German Shepard husky. We’ve tried head halters, vest, and flat collars and nothing works as good with our communication as this one.

More Humane

This Is The Best Humane Collar! Works Great On Our Dog, Keeps Him From Pulling And Lunging. Went On A Walk Without It And He Still Acts Like Its On Which Is Amazing Because We Only Wanted It For A Training Tool! Our Puppers Still Has A Ways To Go But This Collar Has Definitely Helped And It Is Much More Humane Then The Metal Pinch Ones!
