    they liked it!! except one

By Birdgirl on Feb 3, 2018

Had trouble with first serving. Needed to mash it up with fork. Then, three of the five ate it. Then, changed flavor to duck and four ate it. Also, Stella and Chewy's was kind enough to talk with me on the phone to help me understand what I need to do to continue a good experience and all is well. Still Had trouble with first serving. Still having one cat who has problems with food, but will keep working on it. Chewy.com has been the absolute best in helping me make this transition to proper food for my cats, as I have been ill for years but this last six months we are all getting better. I recommend this product as they have small sizes you can try. Mash it with a fork if your cat(s) are resisting, and you can use the dry morsels crumbled as treats instead of the potato chip temptations some cats get hooked on. You will be amazed if you are transitioning from a cheap high carb food to high protein. You will see a change in their coat, eyes, and even their disposition gets better with less sleeping and more harmony among the little family. It is amazing. Great product and Chewy.com is the best. … more

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no

I have been using this product for quite a while now. One thing I have noticed is the discrepancies between production runs. S&C says they produce in small batches and the recipe never changes. However I often find differences among different batch numbers. I order 6 or more bags at a time and always I have been using this product for quite a while now. One thing I have noticed is the discrepancies between production runs. S&C says they produce in small batches and the recipe never changes. However I often find differences among different batch numbers. I order 6 or more bags at a time and always get bags with differing numbers. The problem I am finding is that occasionally the cats, and there are 5 of them only one of who is finicky, refuse to eat a bag or two because of the differences. There will be large inconsistencies in smell that even I can tell, texture, dryness, hardness making it almost impossible to crush the nuggets and oilyness making the nuggets feel very greasy. Makes me wonder if the batch was freeze dried sufficiently. I wonder each time I open a new bag if they will eat it or not. I have been doing research lately to find something new that is more consistent. Right now I am experimenting with Instinct. Steve, the finicky one refused it tonight. I have also been making my own raw. However grinding bone is a chore and I am concerned about not getting exact ingredient amounts, especially nutrients. So far chick chick is the one product they all agree on. I just wish S&C would get on the ball. … more

  • The old man is looking good thanks to CCC

    By on

We have an older cat, approx 10 years old, that lives outside at my workplace. He had been losing weight and drooling, so he went to the vet for a dental. Afterwards we needed to feed him soft nutritious food. My co-worker had a bag of Chick Chick Chicken that she feeds to her cat and so we tried it on the old man. We mix with a small can of catfood pate, and he LOVES it. After 2 months, he has gained all his weight back and his coat is now thick, fluffy and shiny.

  • 1 out of 2 cats like it

I was really excited to allow my cats to try raw food and really hoped both of my cats would like it, however only one liked it, and I'm not sure if its because she's getting older but she doesnt eat all of it only around half even if I give her only a few pieces, it's not because she doesn't like it. My other cat smells it and walks away, I tried several times just to make sure it wasn't because she just wasn't hungry, but every single time she just walked away from it or just ignored it. So I guess it depends on the cat. I actually thought both cats would like it and bought it because they seemed to be craving meat since everytime I ate meat they would want some but maybe I should try a different I was really excited to allow my cats to try raw food and really hoped both of my cats would like it, however only one liked it, and I'm not sure if its because she's getting older but she doesnt eat all of it only around half even if I give her only a few pieces, it's not because she doesn't like it. My cat didn't like them. I gave it a 4 star because I received it so fast and I think most cats would like it -- it's just that mine didn't..

  • It was great until my cat decided to stop eating it

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I fully approve of this food. The ingredients are great and it can last quite awhile. My cat had eaten it as a kitten but I wasn't feeding him this food regularly. So I guess he got finicky and didn't want to eat this anymore. Sometimes I give him pieces on top of his dry food now just to use it up.

  • Changing Diet

    By on

I am switching my 3 cats to a freeze dried raw diet from dry and canned food. It was a little scary at first but now I have stoped the dry food. My cats are getting to like Stella and chewy's food. They have also gotten more active and sleeping less during the day. I had gotten worried about how sedentary they had gotten. But now they are playing like kittens.

  • My cat LOVES this stuff

    By on

It'd give it 5 stars except it's a bit pricey. I use it dry as a treat rather than re-hydrated as a meal. My cat goes crazy for it!

My cat enjoys these as treats. If I rehydrate it, he won't touch it. Go figure.
