    they liked it!! except one

Had trouble with first serving. Needed to mash it up with fork. Then, three of the five ate it. Then, changed flavor to duck and four ate it. Also, Stella and Chewy's was kind enough to talk with me on the phone to help me understand what I need to do to continue a good experience and all is well. Still Had trouble with first serving. Still having one cat who has problems with food, but will keep working on it. Chewy.com has been the absolute best in helping me make this transition to proper food for my cats, as I have been ill for years but this last six months we are all getting better. I recommend this product as they have small sizes you can try. Mash it with a fork if your cat(s) are resisting, and you can use the dry morsels crumbled as treats instead of the potato chip temptations some cats get hooked on. You will be amazed if you are transitioning from a cheap high carb food to high protein. You will see a change in their coat, eyes, and even their disposition gets better with less sleeping and more harmony among the little family. It is amazing. Great product and Chewy.com is the best. … more

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no

I have been using this product for quite a while now. One thing I have noticed is the discrepancies between production runs. S&C says they produce in small batches and the recipe never changes. However I often find differences among different batch numbers. I order 6 or more bags at a time and always I have been using this product for quite a while now. However I often find differences among different batch numbers. I order 6 or more bags at a time and always get bags with differing numbers. The problem I am finding is that occasionally the cats, and there are 5 of them only one of who is finicky, refuse to eat a bag or two because of the differences. There will be large inconsistencies in smell that even I can tell, texture, dryness, hardness making it almost impossible to crush the nuggets and oilyness making the nuggets feel very greasy. Makes me wonder if the batch was freeze dried sufficiently. I wonder each time I open a new bag if they will eat it or not. I have been doing research lately to find something new that is more consistent. Right now I am experimenting with Instinct. Steve, the finicky one refused it tonight. I have also been making my own raw. However grinding bone is a chore and I am concerned about not getting exact ingredient amounts, especially nutrients. So far chick chick is the one product they all agree on. I just wish S&C would get on the ball. … more

  • Hands down, the best!

I have 7 cats. Yes 7. One 14 yr old maine coon who is my heart and soul, four 11 mo old kittens who my husband and I rescued, and two outdoor semi-ferals who are the moms of the kittens. I feed this food to all my cats except the semi-ferals (don't worry, though, they eat a very good quality canned cat food) All my cats love this food, especially my 14 yr old. For the kittens, I re-hydrate as directed but I add a bit more warm water to re-hydrate the nuggets for my 14 yr old because he loves to lap it up (I guess it's kind of like broth for him). This is a pricey food but well worth it. It's nutrient dense, you can vary the level of moisture, you can break it apart for a dry treat, it I have 7 cats. Yes 7. It's not advertised like the brands in big box stores so you don't really hear about it, though. I saw it offered here, on Chewy.com, did some online research, talked to people at my locally owned pet store, and decided to try it. It's just a great food and I'm really glad I tried it. … more

  • the best nutritional cat food

    By on

My vet recommended I give this a try since a couple of my cats are borderline vitamin D deficient and they are only 3 and 4 years old. The plates are licked clean when this is served. There are a few ways to present this food, one is to sprinkle it on top of other wet food or what I like to do is give it as an appetizer. I make sure it is soaked like the directions say and then I mush it with a fork and give it to my brood. I have 8 cats so that is why it's just an appetizer and not an actual meal. My one boy who is skittish actually jumps on the counter for this and gobbles it up. The coats on my cats have improved and they seem happier after they eat this. • Healthier Cat Food

    By on

I just read that dry cat food isn't the healthiest choice to feed your cat, but that's all my 2 cats will eat! So then I read that the second best choice, after making your own raw cat food, is to feed them freeze-dried raw food. So I decided to go with Stella & Chewy's freeze dried dinner morsels, and chose the Chick Chick Chicken because my cats love chicken. Warning: be sure to heed their advice to mix the new food gradually into the old food to give the cat's tummy time to adjust to the new food. Bonus: it can be served dry, as well as wet!

  • Great source of extra protein & nutrition!

    By on

I use these protein nuggets two ways - 1) as a healthy snack; 2) as a topping to wet food. Sometimes my kitties lose interest in their wet food, so I crush up these nuggets & sprinkle them over their dinner. They love it! I order them in every auto-ship delivery. My furrballs' favorite flavors are the chicken & the chicken 'n salmon. They weren't crazy about the duck flavor. Guess my felines have suburban palates & duck was just too unusual for them.

  • Oh Heaven, Nikki is a HUGE Fan

    By on

Nikki loves chicken for sure. But this one, among all of the freeze dried I feed, is THE favorite. I don't usually feed these with water because I primarily feed frozen raw right now. I use this as a topper on the food that she does not like (usually lamb and beef) to lure her into eating. Very effective. I couldn't say much more about how Nikki likes this. I will continue to buy more.

  • My girl loves her "chicken nuggets"

    By on

My 5 month old Bengal is SUCH a picky eater. She loves meat-she was on a raw diet after she was weaned. Tried diff raw (Instinct, primal, Stella & Chewy)-some she liked some she didn't. But she LOVES her Stella & Chewy "chicken nuggets" as we call them. She hear' s the container and comes running & chattering away. There's even times she comes to asking for them. She likes them with and without adding water. I love the quality ingredients and decent pricing. All our fur kids love these, even my small dog.

  • Very Surprised

    By on

I ordered this yesterday, as I am interested in feeding a more healthy diet to my cat, Gizzy. She is overly fond of dry food, and I need to break her of that habit. This arrived today. I read the directions, which says it can be fed dry, so I offered her a piece, to try as a treat. She gobbled it right down, and begged for more. She is not a cat that begs, as a rule. I was shocked! I don't think switching her over will be as hard as I had feared. I'm really happy I tried this.

  • Feeding to my ferret

    By on

I was finding it difficult to find a ferret food i liked ingredient wise. I was recommended this for my rescue and he loves it! Though he prefers it dehydrated rather than rehydrated, which i don't mind since he has to chew it more. A very good food and a name i trust, with quality ingredients. Worth the money.

  • Use this to get your picky cats to eat their prescription foods!

    By on

I have a very, very picky cat who got put on hill's prescription and he hates it. (Can't blame him) But I got this on a whim to mix with the prescription wet food, thinking it will mix well and become a texture he might like. He loves it and you can't go wrong trying out a small bag for 9 bucks. If you got picky eaters, give this a go!
