  • Cats loved, my wallet didn't

    By on

Even my finicky eater went wild for this. Unfortunately, at $30 for a 9 oz bag and 2 cats, there is just no way I can afford it. It did work. Their diarrhea was turning into formed BM within only a couple of days. Switching to the Instinct dry rabbit food and hoping that works as well ($20 for 4.5 lbs). If you only have one cat and can afford it, this is a very good food.

  • Recommend it, but not for mine

    By on Top 25 Contributor

I think I have tried all Stella & Chewy freeze dried at least twice, thinking my kitties will change their mind from all the good reviews I read, but mine are just so so with all flavors. They tend to eat a few more bites of the “morsels “ but never clean the plate and tend to prefer any other bowl of food I have on the floor. To my mind, I think it is the consistency of the product, which is kind of gummy when it is warmed with water. Primal freeze dried and vital essentials comes out ‘fluffier’ so to speak when it’s broken up and warmed with water, and those seem to be what my little ones prefer. 3 stars for good ingredients though!

  • Cats love it!

    By on

Our two cats love this! My dad's cat (18 yr old cat with start of kidney failure) will eat this right up even when other food goes untouched. I do recommend breaking the chunks apart and letting the food absorb water for 2 - 3 minutes before serving (I mix the food a number of times in the water to be sure ever morsel gets some moisture).

  • Smells fishy but isn't fish?

    By on Top 500 Contributor

The pungent fishy smell when I opened this confused me. I keep rereading the ingredients trying to figure out what causes the smell. Did I get a spoiled batch or is it always fishy smelling? My three cats eagerly ate some the first time I offered it, I suppose due to novelty, but since then, they won't touch it. They loved rabbit when I have roasted one in the past, and they like freeze dried treats, so I really thought this would be their kind of thing. I guess it will go where most of my experimental purchases go- to that friend's dog who eats anything! ;-)

  • Surprising favorite

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

The first day I put this down the cats weren't sure, sniffed it a bit and walked away. I thought it was a reject - but apparently they were just waiting for the rehydration, because that dish is licked CLEAN whenever I serve rabbit - followed by the "we're starving" meow to try to con me into giving seconds.

  • Something my picky kitties like

    By on

I have been experimenting with various fresher options to give my kitties variety. Finally found something at least two of them love.. It's so rich I do a few morsels, hydrate with warm water. I like that I can choose how much I can make. So no more waste.

  • Delicious and Yummy

    By on

My cats abolutely love this rabbit dinner. As soon as I hydrate it, they eat it up leaving no remains in their bowls. This is perfect for cats that have chicken allergies. I would like to have it available in larger packages.

  • Good Stuff

    By on

If your kids will eat this you are very lucky. It's a great choice. Unfortunately, my kitty won't. I was able to get him to take a bit or two off the fork, but he won't eat it on his own. This flavor actually upset his tummy. He loves the juice if I add a little extra liquid, but won't eat the meat. And he loves freeze dried treats. Go figure. Glad Stella & Chewy's has a Satisfaction Guarantee.

  • high quality protein

    By on

I bought this for a growing kitten who seemed to be developing allergies. He likes it very much and my other cats won't eat the nibs so it's all for him! I won't be buying this much though as it is too expensive.

  • Our cat's new favorite

    By on

I'd been hoping Stella & Chewy's would make their rabbit formula avilable in freeze dried for a while. So glad it's available now, and it does not disappoint! Our siamese cat goes bonkers for it! He loves other flavors (Chick Chick Chicken, and Duck Duck Goose), but he LOVES the rabbit. We'll keep buying it whenever it is in stock!
