not for our finicky eater
I tried this as a topper to the Wild Red Classic Kibble for our finicky 6 yo 17 pound poochon. Would love to say he is anxious for his mealtime but honestly, he is outlasting us! The only way to get him to touch it is to doctor it up with a greasy meat, a cheese and another grease or sauce of some type. And we have tried it hydrated, dry, leaving it out just at mealtime, and in a bowl left all day long for when he is interested, with just a little doctoring and a lot of doctoring! He seems to only eat if he hasn't eaten or touched his food for a day. We thought he may learn to appreciate it if we forced his paw. Jokes on you, Mom! Still won’t eat it unless I’m starving! Or when the kitty starts to eat from my bowl, Yeah, I may not like it, but the cat will never get my food! I appreciate the goodness in the recipes, but we seem to still be in the hunt for some type of nutrient dense food we don't have to coax our baby to eat!
One thing I say about chewy is the level of care and professionalism towards their customers. I called in because my babies didn’t like my previous purchase and literally I was met with zero difficulty. She changed canceled the other auto ship and I was set in less than 10min . Thank you
Stella & Chewy's Wild Red Raw Blend Kibble
Talked with one of your representatives trying to find one food I could feed to both my dogs. One dog as allergies to poultry/fish/salmon and their by products while other is allergic to Rosemary (causes seizures). The person I spoke with did a lot of research and assured me this was fine for both dogs. When it arrived I read the ingredients only to find it contains Rosemary. I have not opened the bag of food yet as finishing up the other bag I have with Rosemary in it.
Another occasional food
Another "what will she eat today" for my extremely picky eater. Give her a ton of variety and she'll usually eat something. Good ingredients, US made. Some days she goes crazy for the S&C kibble, other days not, but she's a dork. Also works as a treat for the two that eat raw (dork dog refuses raw).
Finally, an option without chicken and with actual natural ingredients.
Expensive but worth it
We like that it has grains and red meat. We were looking for a food that didn’t have chicken and that was not grain free.
wish it had more raw chunks
This food is definitely “high octane” for my high energy and extremely fit dog but I wish it made more of the raw pieces in it like some of the other brands do
Sensitive boy approved!
My boy alternates one week all raw, one week this kibble (to offset costs mostly) and it is the ONLY kibble that doesn’t make him smelly and it does make his skin or tummy upset! Plus it keeps his coat nice and soft/shiny!
Didnt work for Doodle
Switched from Orijen RR to try another red meat product without peas/etc. Did not work for us...no consistent stool after 2.5 weeks and dog generally has more odor. As other pointed out, very little freeze-dried raw chunks if that is important to you. Back to Orijen for us.
The 21lb bag contains less freeze-dried raw
I purchased the 3.5lb bag for my pup to try, and he liked it. Every cup of food would contain 4-5 raw kibbles in it. So I thought, buying 21 lbs, which is equivalent of 6 bags of 3.5-lb bag, I'd be almost saving $70! The 21-lb bag costs $88, whereas 6 smaller bags would cost $156. That sounds like a really good deal, isn't it? But I'd be darned. The 21-lb bag contains significantly smaller portion of freeze-dried raw, which is the good part. I'd be giving him two cups of food, and there would be no raw kibbles in it. This is such a misleading business practice. I feel I was baited into buying it. I wasn't saving anything, because let's face it, the pups like the freeze-dried part. And if I want to get a big bag of overpriced kibbles, I can get it in my local pet store. Stella & Chewy, you have such good products, but don't let this ruin your reputation. Such a shame.
