Put the fun in function with the SubstrateSource Cholla Wood Aquarium & Terrarium Driftwood. Made from an all-natural, dried husk of the Cholla cactus, its porous structure and soft texture make it both a unique aquarium decoration and a functional feature. You can use it as a base to attach Anubias, Java Fern and aquatic mosses, or as a site for small fish and shrimp to find food and shelter. It’s also great as natural décor and a climbing surface in your hermit crab habitat. Whatever you choose, it comes with two hand-selected pieces that measure approximately 6 inches long and .75 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

All birds love chewing wood, and cholla wood is an excellent alternative to shopped wood, which some people don't have access to.
My order arrived quickly and in time for Christmas, thank you! These pieces of cholla were true to the size description, and they were nice solid pieces, they arrived whole and no damage to report. ( I was worried they might get smashed during shipping) My daughter soaked them in boiling water a few times a day, everyday for about 4 days and once they were completely water logged, she submerged them in her shrimp tank. They loved it! They love hiding and exploring throughout the holes in the wood.
Smaller than I would have liked and they do float. But other than that a good product.
It didn't come with directions. I washed off in the sink and placed in the tank. It floated for a couple days but finally sunk. My pecos love it.
I bought this for my snail/shrimp aquarium. The shrimp and snails love climbing on it. It also does a good job of forming a bio-film and algae on it, which they love to eat.
Perfect size for my 36 gallon tanks with catfish and bristlenose plecos. Full size plecos (common, hi-finned, etc) would benefit from a larger size cholla or a different type of driftwood. It took only 3 days in a bucket of water for the cholla to sink and the tannins to leach out. This is a simple way to provide smaller plecos with the wood they need in their diet.
I measured these - I got two packs of them (so 4 total) and not one of them is 6 inches. they are all between 3 and 4 inches. Didnt work for purpose intended but made a decent decoration in my tanks.
Unfortunately did not work out for me. Floats as much as I tried to weigh it down by placing in between large rocks, etc. Also, probably turned the aquarium water a tinge of yellow because of the wood’s resin even though it was soaked for two days in a separate water container.
Got this for my betta’s tank. He swum into the driftwood and got lodged inside. I happened to look inside the tank before it was too late and saved him by sawing the log in half so he was able to wiggle free. His fins are badly damaged and has some scale damage as well. He’s doing better, and hopefully with frequent water changes and meds he will heal. If you buy this product, be careful that any of your fish don’t get stuck!
Both of my bettas love this log. I angle it so they have a nice place to sleep
