I purchased this item for my 5 month old kitten (Amelia) after her spay surgery. She did not enjoy the cone of shame and pulled it off within minutes, so we needed a better solution. I tried using a t-shirt, but it was complicated to try to put on a wiggly kitten, and didn't fit well. Enter Suitical!! I cannot believe how wonderful this thing is!! The material is fairly thick, but still comfortable and breathable. The snaps make it easy to access the rear area, although I never needed to-- Amelia had no trouble doing her business in the litter box with the suit on, no adjustments needed. The trickiest part was getting her front legs in the holes when I would try to get her into it by myself, but only because she's so squirmy wormy. It was a breeze to put on with my husband's help-- if you can have two people on hand, it will help! The only "negative" is that sizing can be a bit tricky. I ordered a XX-Small for Amelia, who weighs 6 pounds (5.5 pounds at the time of surgery), and it was big enough that she managed to squirm her way out of it somehow, presumably though the back end, as that was where it was the most loose-fitting. I ended up getting the XXX-Small and that fit much better. It felt a little snug around the neck, but I could easily get two fingers between it and her neck. Everywhere else was a perfect fit. HIGH recommend for any pets going through surgery. I'll never even attempt to use a cone again!
We got the smallest suit for our 7-mo old 5 lbs kitten. She has a sore on her back from an injection site reaction, and she and our other cat kept trying to groom it, making the injury worse. This suit has helped tremendously, as even though she still licks it sometimes she's no longer aggravating the injury (just wearing away the camo pattern). Our kitten has worn the suit for 2 weeks now, and we think it will be another 1-2 before the injury is fully healed. The suit stays on 24/7, she has no problems eating, using the litterbox or playing. The buttons make it easy to open for a daily treatment to help the injury heal. The only negatives we found was that she had to get used to wearing it, so she walked a little funny and hid for the first day or so. She's now 6.5 lbs of active kitten and the suit still fits!
I ordered the recovery suit for my two kittens going in for Spay March 2nd. Ordered on too soon and "Boots" was too big for it when I tried it on her. Chewy was wonderful!! Sent me a replacement in a bigger size, refunded my account for the too small suit and told me to donate it rather than send it back. Chewy and their products are truly the very best for pet owners and their fur babies!
The size was good for my 4.8 lb kitten. We tried it on her several different days before spay surgery to get her used to it. She would act like she was paralyzed when first putting it on, but quickly adjusted to it. The minor adjustment was made to the neck area. It was a little bit too tight so a small snip with scissors remedied that. She wore it as needed until she was healed.
First, never name a black cat John Cena, you will never be able to find her. Second, don't get anything camouflage for said cat or you'll never see her again. All that being said, this would have been a fantastic product but I ordered the wrong size (ordered xxsmall, should have ordered xxxsmall). To my credit, it's difficult to accurately measure a squirming 6 month old kitten. All she wanted to do is play with the measuring tape. It took at least 5 attempts and half my sanity. I'm glad I sized down, but wish I'd gotten the smallest size. I'll be returning it and possibly exchanging it but she didn't like those leg straps so I'm not sure. Perhaps if they fit better, they'd be more comfortable. We'll see. Also, that diagram for putting it on your cat is really inaccurate. They make it look way too easy. You need about 5 more steps showing how you have to catch the cat several times after it wriggles away, not to mention any bodily harm you sustain. Being named after a wrestler was a mistake. She lives up to her name. Anywho, all those issues are pretty minor. It seems like a really well made suit, the sizing is just hard to figure out without seeing the suit in person first.
My kitty had to have surgery and my vet recommended these for post surgical care. I ordered based on measurements, however, my cat is a little bulkier so they were a little small. I contacted Chewy and they were wonderful, They exchanged for a larger size which fit great. My other cat was not too sure who this new guy was when he saw him afterward, but finally adjusted. I was worried about using the cone of shame, but these little suiticals were so much better. He is all recovered now and never tried to remove the suit or bother his suture site. Awesome product, awesome customer service.
This is the best thing ever! My kitten was spayed and they sent me home with a cone and even though it was the soft kind, it was still unwieldy and she actually ended up getting it off multiple times. I ordered this suit and Chewy had it to me the very next day, which was lovely. The kitten didn't mind the suit and it helped her to heal without needing that nasty cone. Totally recommend!
I followed the suggestions of ordering smaller than what I thought would be needed. My cat is small, 5 pounds and the XXXSmall was perfect for her size. We’ve gone through so many recovery suits and my cat just hated them all. She moves around so well in this! Thanks Chewy!
I got this for my cat to wear after her spay surgery. It is a terrific idea and much better then the cone. But - she acts like her legs are broken and has no idea how to walk! Lol. She takes a step and flops over. Which I guess her not roaming the house is good for recovery but she really doesn’t like it. She did get it off twice the first day but we put it on again and so far so good. I went by the size chart and it fits perfect. This is much better and more comfortable then a cone. Even if she doesn’t realize it!!
I love the idea of this item and my hyper cat really needed an option, since she will not wear cones. She had an emergency stomach surgery and required 2 weeks of cone wear. I got multiple sizes in the suitacle, just in case. None of them really fit her and she was able to pull a leg out, get hopeless stuck, and flail to a dangerous point. The directions recommend you watch your cat the entire time they are wearing this and I agree but it is maybe more dangerous than just watching them, and for this price you would really hope for a working product.
