Tea Tree Oil is TOXIC for dogs! My dog got extremely ill for a week after using this product. She must have licked it and ingested the salve. I wanted to like this product, I liked how thick it was but seeing what my dog went through… well I learned my lesson. My dog is 17 lbs, maybe larger dogs can tolerate the toxin. But I would not risk it. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
This stuff is normal ointment with WAY TOO MUCH menthol. It makes the humans nauseous, I can only imagine how terrible it is for the dogs and their sensitive scent receptors. Will not buy again.
I do not recommend this for dogs with sensitive skin. I used it on 2 dogs and the menthol in this ointment seemed to burn their skin and one actually yelped when it was applied. :(
This seems to sting my dog's irritated skin. My one dog, who is normally tolerant of ointments yelped and ran away when this touched his skin. I thought maybe I poked him with the q-tip I was using to apply, so I tried on my other dog. My other dog jumped and started biting at her paw. It got in her mouth and she ran around hissing and rubbing her face on the carpet desperately trying to get the stuff out of her mouth. I didn't realize that some of the ingredients are toxic if ingested. But even if they weren't, I wouldn't recommend this. It clearly hurts their skin. :-(
It really helped my chihuahua with a skin condition she was having. It stunk so I used gloves when putting it on and I had to put her soft cone on to keep her from licking it. But it did the job it said it would
So my one year old Golden Retriver/Border Collie/American Shepard was having horrible, red, flakey hives under his armpits and chest. The poor doggo was scratching a lot and it looked so painful! I didn't know exactly what it was, but I knew if I took him to the vet, that would end up being like a $300 visit. I bought this cream and within TWO treatments, his issues are about 98% gone!!!! His skin is flaking far less, the redness is gone and the hives are gone. I cannot recommend this enough! It does smell strongly of menthol, which they added to keep pup from licking the cream. My dog is melodramatic and ran around like crazy, then just laid there looking pathetic, but was fine. Buy the cream. Just do it.
My 12 almost 13 year old PittBull has bad allergies, it caused sores all over her body,so bad she had some staph. Terrible, I don't know how much money I've spent on sprays, creams, ointment, dyi, everything. I tryed this sulfodene ointment one day on 5 of her staph/allergy sores. The next day I go to wash her skin with some disposable coconut wipes, I was surprised how 3 sores were already to slough off. Day by day I used the ointment with each day sores continued to come off. Her hair came off with the sores as well, but getting rid of those horrible sores was a blessing. So it was a blessing for me to find this ointment. Also severe rough elbows , this ointment smoothed her elbows as well. I scratched of lightly massaged her with eco friendly leave in conditioner I bought from chewy as well a few times lightly ran my nails as if I was scratching her, well with all that sores about all gone. Yay!!!, Also added a little ointment where bald spots are. I didn't use on her feet where she licks them because of the menthol smell, and her rubbing her eyes with her feet. The smell doesn't bother me. The smell doesn't seem to bother her. I do put eco leave in conditioner on her feet. Her paws are not dry now and not cracked but she still licks them. I might try in the future to put this wonderful sulfodene cream on one foot at a time see if it cure her paws as good as it did her Sores on skin. I will be ordering more of this Happy Mom Happy Doggie. I give this as many stars as possible!!!
Strong menthol smell and very irritating to his skin. Kept desperately trying to run off ointment while whimpering
Has tree oil in it caused her to get sick also she still bit her feet awful
I applied this to my lab’s elbows because she has small callouses and I am desperate to get rid of them. I bought this and had been using it for two days now and my dog has been lethargic (very uncommon for my 1 y/o lab. The only thing I changed was this ointment and I noticed today that it has tea tree oil listed as one of the ingredients! I will not continue use of this item on my dog and she is going to the vet first throng tomorrow morning!
