Can this product be used in my dogs ear? (Outer ear)
Answer by DoggiesMar 13, 2023
I have put this behind my dogs ear zero problem. I have not put this at the starting point of entering her ear because I'm afraid she will get to much on her paw or nails and rub her eyes. Although she has scratched behind her ears I didn't see a problem, it's just she has reoccurring ear infections and trys to dig in her ear, so I'm Leary of putting it so close to the eye/ear but I've thought about trying it's such good stuff. I hope this helps some. I've used this stuff several months now, still haven't had the courage to put it on the outskirts of enter ear yet.

Relief of itch & discomfort

My 12-year-old (rescue)Jack Russell has had allergies since six months old. The list is quite long. Has had consistent suffering with itching, chewing & hair loss beginning at 6 months old. I took him to an allergy specialist first. He has been on compounded allergy drops for 12 years. That keeps his hair from falling out, among other suffering. I stumbled upon Sulfodene ointment quite a few years ago. I can’t emphasize enough with anyone that has a suffering animal from itching, minor scrapes, to have this on hand. ( THE SULFODENE yellow LIQUID Works, but does not last and there’s no comparison to the other two I’m mentioning.) I don’t even know if chewy carries that bottle that I’m referring to.. it’s a yellow smelly liquid.) The ointment has numbing ingredients and is petroleum-based so when your pet licks it, it doesn’t all come off. Make sure you rub it in as well as you can. I also purchased the spray and will spray the inside of the thighs before we go outside to hinder parasites in the grass from biting him. The spray is wonderful for instant, quick relief, but it doesn’t last as long as the ointment. The two working together are fabulous.!!! I don’t know what I would’ve done without these two products for all of these years. I always keep at least three tubes on hand of the ointment and two bottles of spray.

Tea Tree Oil is TOXIC for dogs! My dog got extremely ill for a week after using this product. She must have licked it and ingested the salve. I wanted to like this product, I liked how thick it was but seeing what my dog went through… well I learned my lesson. My dog is 17 lbs, maybe larger dogs can tolerate the toxin. But I would not risk it. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

This stuff is amazing on cuts. It stinks a bit and can be harsh on more open cuts, but works wonders on bug bites and things like that. It is definitely easy to use and great to keep on hand!

This stuff is normal ointment with WAY TOO MUCH menthol. It makes the humans nauseous, I can only imagine how terrible it is for the dogs and their sensitive scent receptors. Will not buy again.

Don't recommend Sulfodene 3-way Ointment

I do not recommend this for dogs with sensitive skin. I used it on 2 dogs and the menthol in this ointment seemed to burn their skin and one actually yelped when it was applied. :(

Hurts my Dogs Skin

This seems to sting my dog's irritated skin. My one dog, who is normally tolerant of ointments yelped and ran away when this touched his skin. I thought maybe I poked him with the q-tip I was using to apply, so I tried on my other dog. My other dog jumped and started biting at her paw. It got in her mouth and she ran around hissing and rubbing her face on the carpet desperately trying to get the stuff out of her mouth. I didn't realize that some of the ingredients are toxic if ingested. But even if they weren't, I wouldn't recommend this. It clearly hurts their skin. :-(

stinky but works

It really helped my chihuahua with a skin condition she was having. It stunk so I used gloves when putting it on and I had to put her soft cone on to keep her from licking it. But it did the job it said it would

A miracle!

So my one year old Golden Retriver/Border Collie/American Shepard was having horrible, red, flakey hives under his armpits and chest. The poor doggo was scratching a lot and it looked so painful! I didn't know exactly what it was, but I knew if I took him to the vet, that would end up being like a $300 visit. I bought this cream and within TWO treatments, his issues are about 98% gone!!!! His skin is flaking far less, the redness is gone and the hives are gone. I cannot recommend this enough! It does smell strongly of menthol, which they added to keep pup from licking the cream. My dog is melodramatic and ran around like crazy, then just laid there looking pathetic, but was fine. Buy the cream. Just do it.

Awesome Ointment

My 12 almost 13 year old PittBull has bad allergies, it caused sores all over her body,so bad she had some staph. Terrible, I don't know how much money I've spent on sprays, creams, ointment, dyi, everything. I tryed this sulfodene ointment one day on 5 of her staph/allergy sores. The next day I go to wash her skin with some disposable coconut wipes, I was surprised how 3 sores were already to slough off. Day by day I used the ointment with each day sores continued to come off. Her hair came off with the sores as well, but getting rid of those horrible sores was a blessing. So it was a blessing for me to find this ointment. Also severe rough elbows , this ointment smoothed her elbows as well. I scratched of lightly massaged her with eco friendly leave in conditioner I bought from chewy as well a few times lightly ran my nails as if I was scratching her, well with all that sores about all gone. Yay!!!, Also added a little ointment where bald spots are. I didn't use on her feet where she licks them because of the menthol smell, and her rubbing her eyes with her feet. The smell doesn't bother me. The smell doesn't seem to bother her. I do put eco leave in conditioner on her feet. Her paws are not dry now and not cracked but she still licks them. I might try in the future to put this wonderful sulfodene cream on one foot at a time see if it cure her paws as good as it did her Sores on skin. I will be ordering more of this Happy Mom Happy Doggie. I give this as many stars as possible!!!
