Smoothness issue
A little disappointed. Seems a little more difficult to get bottom aligned when sliding close. And it doesn't gkide/slide that we'll. Takes some work.
Great overall
Looks great! Easy enough to install. Worked with weird banisters in our front to back split level house.

GATE IS GREAT
My teenage grandson and a friend put up the gate. It didn't take them long and the gate looks great. I matches the surrounding wood items quite well. I am very pleased with the gate.
Pretty but difficult
Our staircase is just a few inches wider than the tightest setting for this gate. I do appreciate its good looks and the fact that it doesn't have a static bottom board for me to trip over. That being said, it's quirky in its behavior. Sometimes it works smoothly being opened and shut, and other times it's stubborn, taking some yanking, shoving, and cursing. If it didn't have this nasty habit, I'd give it five stars.
Would not recommend
Broke after 3 months. We had other gates in the past that lasted over 5 years. Very disappointed in this experience.
Feel apart after being up a month
Thought this was a great gate until it was up about a month. Opened it to go up our stairs and the whole thing fell apart.

Well made quality product. It includes all necessary hardware for multiple mounting options. Even though there is no way you could use everything they include in a single install, they didn't skimp on the quality of any of it. I'm coming back and buying a second one without even researching other options - it's that good.
