When you first receive your product, rinse under freshwater to remove the dust and debris. Boil the cave for 5-minutes and soak it in freshwater for about half an hour and air dry before adding it into the tank.

Although we obtain our products from established sources, you can never be too careful, and the extra step is worthwhile, in our opinion. Rinse the cave before placing it in the tank after boiling (optional) or soaking. A ""post-boil soak"" in freshwater is a recommended step.
