My rat loves this food! He started gaining a lot of weight when I made this his main food, so be careful with that. He’s never been a fan of chew toys, so I use this product to make him enjoy trimming his teeth and it works really well. I recommend finding or making a different food that fits a rats diet better, as this doesn’t provide the right amounts of nutrients that a rat (or my rat, at least) needs. However it is good for dental care or foraging food and rats do enjoy it!
Chewy did a great job with the ordering and delivering process, but the product itself is not a great option for mice. The food has too many big, chunky pieces that are not favorable to mice (at least, not my mouse). As a result, a lot of the bag content is wasted and I’ll go back to the other brand I was using.
I buy a variety of food for my 5 gerbils. I have a big container and just poor them in and mix them all together. I usually use a few gerbil mixes, a couple rat mixes, and then zilla veggies, fruits, and omnivore mix. This food is okay. I usually choose a rat food with higher protein. This food has 15%.
Too much protein but my rats love it, more of a treat than an every day but not terrible
The protein amount is too high. 18% or lower is suitable and this is not that. There is lots of filler, but it could serve as an occasional treat.
