What is the overall size of this product and the size of the flap itself?
Answer by ChewyApr 10, 2019
The pet door opening measures 6 11⁄16 inches (W) x 7 inches (H). The exterior frame dimensions are 10 5⁄16 inches (W) x 11 1⁄16 inches (H).

Does this kit include the necessary items to mount it in a wall?
Answer by ChewyAug 23, 2019
The SureFlap Cat Door Tunnel Extender needed for wall installation available separately on our site for purchase.

I have read that you can program curfews selecting who can go in and out. I am reading conflicting responses. Can you clarify if i can stop my diabetic cat from exiting while his sibling is still able to exit. The Sure Flap site itself implies that that this is a feature.
Answer by ChewyOct 14, 2021
This door features 5 different locking modes, one of which is the curfew mode. By setting up and activating curfew mode all authorised pets are only allowed to leave the house during certain times of day (for example, unlocking in the morning and locking at night). It would not differentiate between multiple authorised pets.

Not interested in the going out and coming in of the cats all day long. Can I refuse notifications during the day? Will the app allow this?
Answer by ChewyMay 03, 2022
Notifications can be toggled within the app and in your own phone settings. While there is not a setting to not get notifications during the day and only at night, you can disable them so you are not constantly notified.

Worked great for 6 months

It worked great for 6 months, but it started locking the door and locking my dog out. It keeps blinking red that the battery is low, but I’ve replaced the batteries three times with new batteries and it doesn’t stop blinking red and indicating the batteries are low. Very disappointing after spending that much on a cat/toy dog door.

Sureflap - Generally awesome, this wifi connected product not so much

I have been using a regular SureFlap microchip pet door for a very long time and have found it to be a wonderful product that has held up well. I decided to upgrade to the Sureflap microchip pet door connect. The "connect" portion allows the door to talk to an app wirelessly so the door can be controlled from the app. This connectivity is particularly helpful with setting and changing curfew mode. I will say that the app needs some work; the navigation is not intuitive. Installation was easy and the setup of the door was too. I have two cats. Even though the setup was clearly correct because one of my cats could use the door with no issue, the second cat was locked outside. I uninstalled the door, tried to set it up again, and still, the second cat was locked outside. After spending quite a bit of time and upsetting my cats by passing them through the door a few times, and resetting the controls, I gave up. Back to my old "unconnected" door which is still working after being in a couple of different houses and being used for more than 10 years.

Technology finally works

I had one of these a few years ago and they never worked reliably and the cat would be confused. This one works every time. It does use a lot of power. 4 rechargeable C cells last about 2.5 weeks before you get low battery warnings, which you can ignore for about a week. I wish it had a small solar panel to top them up.

Want to invite some raccoons over?

I unfortunately can not recommend this door. I believe the main reason people purchase this is to keep unwanted animals out of their home, and this door does NOT do that! Raccoons in San Antonio have figured out how to open this son of a gun faster than my cats! Especially since, after 6 months they still haven’t realized they can work the door both ways.. but that’s a problem for a whole separate negative review. I’m still trying to catch the lil bandits on camera so I can see how they’re getting this open! The only thing I can think is that their fingers are small enough to slide through the crack around the door and push the little levers down to unlock it. I am going to have to remove it soon though, it’s only a matter of time before I wake up one morning cuddled with a raccoon. Or, my big fear honestly is my little dog getting in a tussle with them. Especially since now he has learned that he needs to run to bark and defend us when he hears the cat door open now. In conclusion.. save yourself a couple hundy and buy a regular degular plastic flap.

Great door!

This door was expensive and needing to buy the hub separately was another punch to the wallet however aside from one or two hiccups it performs excellently and with a little bit of training I expect everyone will be using it normal in a week or two. One of our cats took to it on the first day. I put catnip spray on both sides of the door to make them more comfortable with it and sprinkled treats on both sides so they associate it with good things. Pros: As installation on wood it was easy and took one person as long as you follow the instructions. Our house already came with a dog door so I just put a panel of wood over it and cut the hole for the SureFlap door, I suggest cutting just outside the line you trace or you're going to do a lot of sanding. The cats all synced and the actuators retract the locks anytime they come near it, so it performs as expected. Being able to set profiles for everyone is nice and the ability to lock the door from my phone when I've forgotten to earlier and I'm already in bed is the icing on the cake. (If you lock it the cats can still get inside, they just can't go outside) I like that the hub ears blink when a cat is using the door and you can dim the lights. My hub is currently 18ft from the door and I've had 0 issues with it, setup was quick and easy. Cons: More of a nitpicky thing but I agree with another review that it doesn't read neck microchips as well as the collar tag. It recognizes it enough to open the lock but not always read the cat that's walked through, so in the app it will say an animal has gone through the door instead of the cat's name, or it may say the cat looked through the door but didn't go through it when actually they did. I'd strongly recommend using the collar tag if you want correct readings. I've also taped down the locks temporarily for training purposes bc as the cats are unsure right now they are just sitting in the tunnel causing it to lock and unlock constantly. It does everything I bought it for so my cats can now enjoy their new catio and I have piece of mind and I don't have to manually lock and unlock the door every day. For me the cats profiles in the app was just an added benefit. I'm pretty happy with it and I would recommend.

Too small/scary

M’y cats won’t use the door as it is very loud to click w microchip and it was a huge waste of money.

Pet Door / Chip Activated ?

The door is very sturdy but noisy. I had a very difficult time getting my cat not to be afraid of the abrupt noise the door actuators make. Took 2 weeks of leaving the door propped open with a bowl of food to lure him past the noise. Also there should be an “increased sensitivity adjustment” for the chip sensor. The door does not pick up on my cats microchip apparently because it wasn’t placed close enough to his head so I’m forced to use the collar tag that’s included. Unfortunately my cat loses collars like there isn’t a tomorrow! The door was the most expensive cat door they offered and I feel that these issues should have been resolved before selling it.

It would be better if it kept raccoons out

My cat does not charge through the cat flap. He sort of slides through slowly and carefully. The flap closes gently and rests on the latches instead of locking. Then the door is primed to let some other animal in, like the raccoon I just chased out of my kitchen tonight. I bought this door because my old SurePet flap had become unreliable. It took me 4 hours to install the new one, and I can no longer put the SurePet flap back in because I had to make a bigger opening. I don't know what to do next. This is a fundamental defect of design if a microchip pet door can't be relied on to latch every time. I recommend that Chewy stop selling it.
