Transition Instructions
When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7-10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog's previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.

Is this new “ancient” line chelated like the other Taste of the Wild foods? Is the salmon farmed or fished? Is it tested for mercury? Why is it smoked, is that nutritionally beneficial or just for taste? Thank you!
Answer by • Oct 24, 2019
This formula uses chelated minerals. Taste of the Wild uses a blend of wild caught and farmed salmon to promote sustainable fishing. All of the fish that are used in their foods are low mercury species. They utilize a rotisserie process to add flavor.

How many cups in the 28 pound bag?
Answer by • Dec 20, 2019
The 5 pound bag will contain about 20 cups of dry dog food, the 14 pound bag will contain approximately 56 cups of kibble, and the 28 pound bag contains approximately 112 cups of kibble.
What is the digestability?
Answer by • Nov 04, 2019
Taste of the Wild formulates their recipes for a digestibility of 86%-88% for all varieties.
Typically buy my dog the kirkland signature dog food, with something from Chewy on occasion. Kibble pieces are smaller than the kirkland brand. Good price especially if you have a coupon or the like. If your dog can't have chicken and you don't want other weird fillers, this is a good option.

I've never had a happier little boy!
I have a 4-year old very active French Bulldog that was formerly on Purina Pro Plan Salmon and Rice for years. He was affected negatively by the recent horrible formula change and I had to find a new food stat. He loves this food so much he has replaced my alarm clock demanding it as soon as the sun comes up unfortunately. The ingredients are FAR superior than Purina Pro Plan and slightly less expensive. Happy Frenchie Happy Life.

Best food
We love this food for our English Bulldog. We’ve tried many others, found out she’s allergic to chicken and switched to this. She eats it up and loves it. Her cost is silky and she has had no stomach issues since changing to this food. I would absolutely recommend it, and our vet says it’s one of the best!

She loves it
I switched due to allergies . She likes food so I wasn’t worried about her liking it. The transition was easy. After 2 days she was on it completely and bowel movements are solid. She has 2 a day (maybe 3 if she gets a lot of exercise and it’s very hot)

Good but frustrating
The only reason it is not 5 stars is that I wish it were cheaper. Excellent food, and my lab does great with it. The frustrating part is that is is out of stock more than it is available so I get the dog used to it and then have to shift gears and I do not like changing his food. A couple more times being out of stock and I will not be a customer anymore because I will need to find something more dependable.

Taste of Wild Salmon
Was a little disappointed that the 28 lb bags were out of stock. Got the smaller bags two 15 and a five lb bag instead. The smaller bag had a hole in the bottom so when I picked it up spilled out some of the food. But I have always loved Chewy and my Springers love the food

So far so good
I use Salmon food with grain as a mix in with my dog's normal food. I switched recently to this and all the dogs like it with no loose stool or anything during the adjustment phase.

How To Add Human Food to Kibble
I have a question...not a review, yet. I like to add Cooked Chicken and Sweet Potatoe to the dry kibble. I am not sure if I should just add about a cup of the Human food... or feed 1/2 of the daily feeding suggestion and 1/2 of the Chicken/Veg. ( Daily requierment of Kibble is 3 Cups. Do I feed: 1.5 c. of Kibble and 1.5 c. Chicken)

Three years strong with this food!
We have a 90 pound chocolate lab that has been eating the Wild Ancient Stream Smoke Flavored Salmon for over three years now. His fur is super shiny, he is extremely regular with is digestive track, no skin irritations, and he loves it. He’s in very good shape as he exercises a lot and we feel that Taste of the Wild has been the perfect match for him. Would highly recommend!

Unfortunately my 16 yr.old dog got sick over this food.I thought I would give her a treat by staying with the salmon flavor but trying something new. Big mistake. It gave her very loose stools and she didn't eat anything for a day and a half.I couldn't even get any Pepto-Bismol into her.I will stic
