When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.

The Diet Nature Intended
They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.
Energy That Lasts
Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support
Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.
Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas
Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.
Ingredients for Better Health
The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.
TOMATOES and TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.
BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.
RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

Not just for small breeds
By Bebr on Feb 12, 2021
I have a 60 lb Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix who had digestion issues when I adopted her. I tried various brands for medium/ large dogs and other than Just Food for Dogs, which works well but is very expensive, this dry food for small breeds works very well with her stomach. I just double the portions and feed her 4 cups per day. She loves it.

My Boston loves this!
By Hailey on Feb 16, 2021
I was a bit hesitant to purchase this food after seeing some bad ones, but my 6 y.o. Boston Terrier loves this food! He was previously eating Nutro, but I wanted something more high quality that will hopefully make him stink less, and this has worked pretty well! He eats it no problems.

Finally a small sized kibble void of my dogs allergens
By PugMum on Jan 14, 2021
My pug has food sensitivities. Chicken makes his paws itch so bad he will lick them raw. Beef gives him diarrhea. Most grains turn his ears into a yeasty mess, back with the itchy paws and painful gas. He is also on the small side for a pug, extra tiny mouth with an underbite. This means he needs very small sized kibble and it has been hard to find one that is grain free and doesn't contain chicken or beef. There are a few out there and we have tried them but he gained weight despite us feeding him the appropriate amount, and he was always feeling hungry between meals. Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley Small Breed Grain-Free Dry Dog Food has been a terrific kibble for my little guy My pug has food sensitivities. Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley Small Breed Grain-Free Dry Dog Food has been a terrific kibble for my little guy. He enjoys his meals, he is a picky eater but loves this food. The kibble is small enough for him and he doesn't struggle eating it. He has not had any allergic reactions and no significant weight gain. He is tiny so if he gains just a pound it is really noticeable. He always gains some winter weight due to not having the full yard to run around in and it being too cold to spend as much time outside as he does in the summer months. But this winter he hasn't gained at all. He is also not begging for food all day long. With the other foods he would ask for more food immediately after eating. Now he only sits by his bowl if it is dinner time and we are in the kitchen. His eyes are especially bright and moist now, pugs can suffer with dry eyes and he has in the past but that has cleared up now. His fur is more dense than usual, nice and healthy looking. Areas that had thinned out over the years are now full. His skin still gets a little dry but not as bad as before, I will look into adding a supplement to help with that. I also love that it comes in large sized bags. A lot of the small breed foods are only sold in smaller bags. … more

MY DOG LOVES THIS FOOD!!
By Becky on Feb 15, 2021
I absolutely give this food 5 stars!! My chihuahua LOVES it!! She prefers it over her blue buffalo life source small bites. The pieces of food are small enough to fit in her little mouth, and the food is HIGHLY digestible. Small regular poops...very good food!!

My Miniature Dachshund loves it
By Jeffafa on Feb 6, 2021
My now 3 year old Dachshund loves this dry food! Great ingredients! His coat is great! He's been eating this for about 2 years now. He will eat it alone, but I usually top it with Weruva wet canned dog food which is incredible as well!

Taste of wild - Maybe?
By hank67 on Jan 21, 2021
My little guy hates this dog food and he typically eats anything. Literally went on a hunger strike. Poured gravy on top and still wanted nothing to do with it. I guess the higher rated dog food equates to eating spinach for some little guys. The good news is some little fellas probably like spinach.

small kibble bites for the tiny furbabies
By chugMom1 on Dec 27, 2020
Just arrived, I’m impressed with the ingredients as I have a Chug, a 2 lb elderly Chihuahua and a Brussels Griffon with allergies to chicken and beef. I’m a label reading furmomma who is hoping this does the trick! For those asking how big the kibble is, I added some pics! Blessings everyone!

Seems good, but my picky pups say no
By TerryFam on Dec 3, 2020
I genuinely think this is a good dog food, but my picky pups (miniature dachshund and miniature pinscher) just weren't that interested in it. They'll eat it, but it's more so just because it's there, they don't seem very interested in it like previous brands we've tried. The size of the kibble is fine and they didn't seem to have any problems with chewing it. It does have an odd, sort of spicy scent to it, but by no means is it bad or overwhelming! I'd be willing to give other TotW kibbles a try, but this one is a no from the Terry pups!

Libby loves it!
By Libby on Jan 29, 2021
Libby is a very picky eater. I’ve tried all kinds of brands. She absolutely loves Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley. I bought 5 other flavors and my other dogs love all of them.
