About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

  • So far, so good

    By on

As a former Fromm user, I made the decision to switch foods after several issues with Fromm Gold. Thanks to all the positive comments given by users of Taste of the wild and a bit of research, I made the switch. My GSD, who is very picky, has yet to leave her bowl uneaten. My Nova Scotia has yet to get an upset stomach from this food. Both are doing great and so are their stools. I'm half to three quarters through my first bag, so will update in the future. Again, so far, so good! Thank you Chewy for all the great deals you offer customers! It is very much appreciated.

  • Dry Kibble my Standard Poodle & Chihuahua will eat

    By on

It took a day of staring, but, I did not give! My Standard Poodle (11 yr. Old) went right to it and loves it! My Chihuahua, the picky youngster, gave me the stare for about 24 hrs. After that, Jazzy started to eat this dry dog food! I have tried to wait her out on other brands (longest I waited: a week)and she just wouldn't go for it. After 24 hrs. She will not stop eating the Taste of the Wild Prairie Blend. Both Dogs love this food and dry is always better than wet or mixed (great for their teeth too!)

  • Taste of the Wild

All of the Taste of the Wild dog foods that we have tried have been very satisfying! Our pup loves them, she is doing beautifully on them with a good-looking coat, plenty of energy, excellent nails and pads, perfect weight (2 years old now) and overall no skin/coat problems or concerns from feeding. Taste of the Wild was recommended by the breeder. Taste of the Wild brand is all we use - highly recommend.

  • my senior pug loves it

For two years I struggled to get my dog to eat when food was in front of her. I was feeding her Zignature brand dog food. I just figured she was a slow eater and never thought anything of it. After reading reviews for this food, I decided to try it out. My 10 year old pug loves it! She eats immediately when it is placed in front of her!!! I feel guilty knowing that she didn't like the other food! Yikes! After a month of feeding it to her, her energy has spiked. She walks faster on walks and can walk for longer periods of time. She also has such a soft coat! People pet her and remark at how soft she is! I'm so happy with this food and I'll continue to buy it.

  • Chewy.com and dog food review

Chewy service is very efficient. The order was shipped within two hours of being placed. Taste of the Wild looks like a quality product; however, my Chihuahua dog mix is very picky. I haven't yet found dried food that my dog was crazy about. On a different subject... A few days ago my dog had a visit with a veterinarian and the veterinarian recommends foods that contains grain. She says that grains are very good for dogs. I guess going forward I will be getting him food that contains grain. She said that corn is also fine as long as it is not one of the first ingredients. Not sure if all vets feel that way. It should be interesting to hear what other vets have to say on this subject Chewy service is very efficient. • Dog stopped Eating

    By on

My dog loved this food for over a year. Recently at the end of August 2017 she simply refused to eat it. I started mixing other foods with the kibble to get her to interested. She then began to pick through the kibble and avoid it. I should have listened to my dog, I know no official recall has been made on this food but other owners had similar experiences. Chewy was accommodating in replacing one bag but the second had the same result with my pup.

  • Wildly successful change of food!

    By on

We have and will continue to use Royal Canin for German Shepherds, however; Our boy needed a change! I asked the question "What is the BEST SHEPHERD food for our almost 2 year old boy" and the overwhelming answer was Taste of the Wild. We mixed it with Royal Canin and he loves it! Finally picking up a little weight that he needed and he is eating regularly instead of eating one day and not the next.

  • Good food and the dogs like it!

    By on

I have one fairly picky eater and he enjoys Taste of the Wild. That is a good thing. I don't want to give the dogs junk food and I like the ingredients of this food line. I sort of wish the bag was a little larger as I feed multiple large breed dogs. I recommend this food as an overall good quality food. Read the labels and compare. Then let your dogs tell you how much they like this food. Use with confidence.

  • Great dog food

    By on

This may be the best dog food for the price. We switched to Taste of the Wild years ago because we could buy it local, is grain free and had premium ingredients. We switched to Blue Wilderness because my wife's dog is a fatty and the vet said she could loose a few pounds. After moving to the country and having room for the dogs to run, we switched back to TOTW and our dogs love it. We were introduced to Chewy by my mother who uses the same food. The subscription plan saves us each month plus we don't have to drive 30 minutes to go get the food. Thanks Chewy.

  • Babies love it

    By on

My babies love this dog food; they would eat all of the blue I used to give them, but with this they be licking the bowls, I know they enjoy it and this will be the only food I give them for now on. Plus the ingredients are super healthy for them! Good choice
