Transition Instructions
When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.
Learn More About Taste of the Wild From Our Team of Experts
They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.
Energy That Lasts
Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.
Immune System Support
Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.
Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.
Perfectly Balanced Omegas
Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.
Ingredients for Better Health
The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.
TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.
BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.
RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

I would feed puppy formula to my GSD until they’re at least 18 months
Who and where is the dog food made and bagged? Are all ingredients sources from the USA?
Answer by • Jan 08, 2018
Taste of the Wild has five manufacturing facilities, all located in the United States: two in California, one in Missouri, one in South Carolina and one in Arkansas. Taste of the Wild uses some ingredients that are not USA sourced. The lamb from New Zealand, lamb meal and venison from Australia, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. There are ingredients that are critical to the formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China.
Is there any by products or cornmeal in this dog food
Answer by • Apr 18, 2018
This formula is free of by-products and corn products.
Does any of your kibble choices for adult dogs include pro or prebiotics to help with sensitive stomachs?
Answer by • Apr 02, 2021
Every Taste of the Wild dry canine recipe is enhanced with K9 Strain Probiotics. For probiotics to be beneficial to your pet’s system, they must be “viable,” or active and able to multiply. K9 Strain Probiotics are added to Taste of the Wild dry recipes after the cooking process, which would otherwise kill these beneficial bacteria. Each pound of dry Taste of the Wild provides 80 million live, active cultures that keep the digestive and immune systems healthy. This recipe contains Dried Chicory Root as a source of prebiotic fiber that provides fuel for the beneficial probiotic bacteria in the digestive system.
This dog food is on automatic refill. However, I was contacted that my usual choice was out of stock and to pick a different flavor, which I did. I received the replacement, and several days later received a bag of the “out of stock”:flavor. I don’t think I should have to pay for 2 bags since I followed your directions and you sent 2 bags.

Did they switch their ingredients?
My 2 yellow labs and 3 cats have all been on Taste of the Wild but in the last month 2 cats and both dogs have been scratching obsessively. To the point of losing their hair. The only thing I can think of is the dry food. I haven't changed anything else in their diets, no fleas, no ticks, nothing environmental has changed....

Sick Puppy
I switched to this brand hesitantly after reading the reviews but felt that since my cats were on the same brand, all would be ok.
I tested my 11 month old PWD on the 5lb bag first and things seemed to be going well. However, once I bought the 28lb back things started to go downhill. I first noticed loose stool but was still mixing the food with her old food and just kept an eye on her. Once she transitioned to just taste of the wild, by the end of the week she was having explosive diarrhea. I stopped the food immediately and gave her rice for the day and moved her back to Purina. She is now completely fine and happy as can be.

Tasty Change
Pepper loves to mix this with her Hills Science Diet canned food. I have always fed my dogs Science Diet but she the first one that has wanted a little variety in her diet. She loves this stuff. She's extremely active and this seems to keep her weight and fill her hunger.

Big fan
We started our pitbull on this food 10 yrs ago recently I tried some more higher end food because of him being older. We should have stuck with this! Definitely a huge fan of many years. Will keep feeding our dogs taste of the wild! This particular formula our max absolutely loves. Will leave update on the formula our 1 yr old goldendoodle started soon as he has had it for a bit.

Three discerning damsels
We have three female rescues of different breeds, personalities, and appetites. But one thing they all can agree on is Taste of the Wild High Prairie Grain-Free Dog Food for dinner. They set aside their manners and gobble it up with glee.

Last mile
Product selection, ease of ordering, communication all top notch from Chewy.
1 star for the continuous, poor, monthly service from FedEx. The local delivery is terrible. Boxes left everywhere but front door. Maybe use UPS.

Bison is really chicken
We use this brand because our German Shepard can not handle chicken. We rotate through different flavors (excluding chicken). We have had bison before but this time the label now says “chicken meal” so of course our doggo had bathroom issues. Kinda messed up to add chicken into all the flavors that aren’t the chicken flavor one.

Taste of the Wild High Prairie
My dogs have always had the salmon, but Chewy was out of stock so I tried this flavor with Bison and Venison and my dogs really enjoy it. Price is the same too. So now maybe I'll go back and forth between the two to give my dogs a variety.
