About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

Who and where is the dog food made and bagged? Are all ingredients sources from the USA?
Answer by ChewyJan 08, 2018
Taste of the Wild has five manufacturing facilities, all located in the United States: two in California, one in Missouri, one in South Carolina and one in Arkansas. Taste of the Wild uses some ingredients that are not USA sourced. The lamb from New Zealand, lamb meal and venison from Australia, duck meal from France, potato protein from Germany and dried chicory root from Belgium. Not for my dog!

My dog is a one year old active dog, He can not get enough food in him to sustain his constant running and swimming. I started him on this food and he began to lose weight very rapidly. I took him to the vet because I was worried there was something wrong. After $200 of tests, which were all negative, the vet said it was probably his food. By that time he would not eat the food at all. He just stopped eating. I switched to another brand and he ate like he hadn't eaten in weeks. His weight is now normalizing and his energy returning.

No more allergy-related skin issues!

We adopted our dog from a local shelter and they showed us what they'd been feeding her. Poor angel had cysts between her toes and sores all over her skin. The vet suggested we remove grain from her diet so we switched to the salmon flavor of Taste of the Wild. Within a matter of weeks her sores and feet healed beautifully. We still supplement her diet with green beans, cottage cheese and sweet potato, but I'll never switch her from Taste of the Wild.

great product and value

I have a Black Lab that will honestly eat anything (both a dream and a nightmare!) I wanted to be very intentional with what she ate. I wanted a dry food that 1. Is of high quality, 2. Has quality ingredients, and 3. My lab will enjoy. I got all three with TOTW. The moment she hears me open the container, she makes her way happily to her food bowl. She finishes every kibble. Easy transition from her previous food. I’ll be sticking to this one for as long as I can! Auto-ship is awesome and exceeds my expectations with getting it to my door :-)

A good all around food, but my dog is picky.

This did well for our 10lb Eskie/chihuahua for the first 2 years. Then we started training her and using food for her reward and it was not high value enough, so we are switching it up for something she might like better.

Great Dog Food

My dog has been eating Taste of the Wild dog food products since she was a puppy. She is now 7 years old. I tried other flavors but she loves the High Prairie Venison and Bison best. She has been eating this food with no issues. Since this is a grain-free product, I do supplement her meals with other fresh foods like raw or roasted carrots. I also occasionally give her fresh fish and scrambled eggs and rice.

My dogs went CRAZY!!!

My dogs have liked their Purina Pro dogfood, but when these bags arrived, I thought they were going to tear them open! They had to eat up the last of the Purina before they got any of the "new stuff", but boy! when they did? They went bonkers! It was all gone within a minute! I couldn't believe it. So I think they've found their brand, and I'll stick to it. That's my story.

Not my dogs favorite meal

I try to get my dogs to eat some kibble along with their more preferred foods from Chewy and Real Meat. I even soak their kibble in meat broth, which helps. So while this is not their favorite, it seems to be better than other kibble I have tried.

Smelly Dog.

My 40 lb Weimaraner/elkhound mix loves this food. She's 8 years old now and has always had gastro issues but they recently worsen. Her gas was so bad we couldn't stand it, we switched to Taste of the Wild and the gas issue has probably improved by 80%. I'm sure the grain free is what has helped most.
