About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

  • Foul smelling food

    By on

Our Newfoundland puppy is a picky eater and gets bored of kibble so we add in a few spoonfuls of wet food. We recently started him on the dry version of this, so we picked up the cans as well. The minute we opened the can the smell just permeated the entire kitchen and we were practically gagging as we mixed it in his food! It lingered for so long and we couldn’t even keep it in the fridge because it stunk that up too. I almost wondered if the can had gone bad but the expiration wasn’t until 2020! We’ve only opened one so far so I don’t know if this is the story for all of them, but I’m surprised I haven’t seen more reviews about the smell. He still ate up the food no problem, but just something Our Newfoundland puppy is a picky eater and gets bored of kibble so we add in a few spoonfuls of wet food. • Dogs are not a fan of this one...........

    By on

Sorry to day, my dogs won't eat this. I was really hoping they would, thought it would be a good change of pace since my dog is diabetic and thought this would be better for her, but she won't touch it, went 2 days without eating much of anything after eating part of a can, so put her back on her regular food. Tried the mixing half and half, the whole bit, she wasn't having it, would pick that out and spit it on the floor and leave it.

Salmon dinner! My doggo wolfs this down like she caught the fish herself. She's loving this. Good mix of chunks and gravy. And yes, it smells like salmon for a few minutes while she feasts, but it isn't remotely as stinky as you all warned, ya goofs. :) Enthusiastically recommended chow.

  • Great for Senior Dog

    By on

Switched from dry kibbles to this wet food for senior min pin. My dog had a hard time chewing even the tiny kibble. She now gets 2 tsp of dry kibble mixed in with 1/4 can of this. She loves the taste and I love that it’s grain free and healthy for her

  • My GSD enjoys this product.

I feed my guy the same version of the TOW dry food, so since that agrees with him, I decided to add the canned food to his diet. He eagerly eats it, and it completely agrees with him.

My two big dogs split a can of Taste of the Wild every night. They stand pacing around my feet the moment I open it. This is mixed with the Taste of the Wild Bison dry

My almost 11 YO Standard Poodle is not driven by food to begin with though isn't what I would call a picky eater either (food is just not a driving force in her life), very slow eater and is now limited to a non beef, chicken, etc diet, (no grain always)--but is a very athletic active dog so needs to eat a good bit and she only eats limited amount of this. I have been feeding Dave's salmon and Canidae's salmon/fish canned but Canidae is temporarily OS (I hope) so took Chewy up on choosing a different food. My 3 YO Cavalier King Charles will eat anything (and everything LOL) and is limited to 1/4 cup dry 2x and 1 T canned 2x and likes it, but Molly (SP) licks the gravy off and will very slowly My almost 11 YO Standard Poodle is not driven by food to begin with though isn't what I would call a picky eater either (food is just not a driving force in her life), very slow eater and is now limited to a non beef, chicken, etc diet, (no grain always)--but is a very athletic active dog so needs to eat a good bit and she only eats limited amount of this. I started mixing 1/2 and 1/2 with Dave's to get her to eat more. I don't think there is a thing wrong with the food, but for any others with dogs that prefer a paté type food, this will not do--quite firm chunks that don't even mash easily. I will use the 2 cases and not order more. BTW I am feeding their Dry in place of Fromm's Tunalini now discontinued with Chewy and though they both eat limited dry, they seem to like its texture and size. … more

  • Great dinner!

    By on

Oliver gets wet food every other evening for dinner. The other meals are dry food. He has Spaniel ears which soak up any liquid in his food, and this has just the right amount to satisfy him without soaking his ears. If you have any breed with long floppy ears, you know what I mean. He loves the flavor!
