About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

  • This has helped with odors!

    By on

Sooki has a bit of Sharpei in her, which gives her a double coat. She's had dander issues and also, her anal glands leak in the house. I was desperate for solutions and read that food could help. This brand showed up in several searches. I tried the yellow bag first and saw a change in her coat (shiny and less dander), but no change to the gland issue. I read that chicken can be an allergen, so I switched to the blue bag (fish, mostly) and she's doing awesome! No leaks, no smells other than normal dog. Also, she LOVES it.

  • Great Product!

    By on

We used to feed our 5 dogs Orijen until we received the news that chewy won't be able to supply this food anymore. Since I like having our food delivered due to us living 1 1/2 hours from the closest store that would supply us with the food we like, we decided to try out 'Taste of the Wild'. I always leave it to our pups to be give the critique and they seem to love it. They finish each bowl, their coats still shine, they have a lot of energy as we walk and hike a lot. Their bowl movements are regular and firm but not to firm. So we will stick with it.

  • Tasty Kibble

    By on

I wanted to give my dogs a good kibble since I can't prepre their food on a regular basis. I googled best dog foods and Taste of the Wild came up in the top 10. I like feeding salmon to my dogs but didn't like the odor of other brands and my dogs did not seem to enjoy eating it all the time. My dogs really seem to love this, even my two picky eaters gobble it down. I am a very happy customer. By the way I have five chihuahuas and the kibble is not too large for them.

  • 105 lb Pyrenees loves it - along with my cat (Taste of the Wild cat food)

    By on

My 105# Great Pyrenees loves this. I buy the Pacific Stream and High Prairie. Big difference since he has been on this food. His stools (poop) are smaller and darker in color. Meaning; his body has more vitamins and minerals being absorbed, and less (needless) food being expelled. You will notice this when you pick up poop in your backyard, especially if your dog is the larger size like mine. You will also spend much less time doing this since there is less waste. I like that you can buy a 5# bag to see if your dog will eat it before you spend the money to buy a 30# bag. My dog has a touchy stomach and would throw up a few times a week. (we went through several foods) When I switched to Taste of the Wild, I was out of his regular dog food and it only came in 40# bags. So, we switched "cold turkey"... I bought a 5# bag of Pacific Stream and he loved it! He never had a problem, And He hasn't threw up since! Some people think this is expensive, however, most dog eats less with this because it is "real food" and has all the nutrition they need, it fills them up, their body absorbs it (And You don't see it scattered in piles all over your back yard like the cheaper brands) So this food will last longer and it goes into the dog, not your back yard. Not to mention my dog is healthy and has more energy. … more

  • Easy and efficient

    By on

I am delighted to have found Chewy.com for my pet food needs. I have a 3 year old male Rhodesian Ridgeback with food sensitivities and a 2 year old female Rottweiler who loves her food. It takes a lot of food to keep them going so buying large bags of food and having to load and haul them home is tough. I love being able to go online and order good quality dog food which is delivered approximately 2-3 days later to my front door. I tried Taste of the Wild because it appeared to be the same quality of the previous dog food I was using but slightly cheaper. I would highly recommend Taste of the Wild as both my dogs seem to love it and await meal times eagerly.

  • Dogs skin, hair, and even her ears are better.

    By on

My lab/shepherd has had dirty ears for years. Treated them with Mometamax. Her skin was black, bumpy, and rough. She chewed bald spots on her body, some enough to bleed. I got Pacific Stream and within 2 months she was looking like a young dog. Everything cleared up. No chewing, no bald spots, no dirty ears and there was a lump of fat on her hips that disappeared. She is firm and healthy for a 12 year old. Just wish her hips weren't so bad.

  • Good ingredients

    By on

My dog is allergic to beef and poultry (and wheat, soy, and corn), so I've become really picky about ingredients overall. This has quality ingredients, and she loves this. I swap out brands and proteins so she hopefully won't develop new allergies (vet's advice), and when I get a new bag of this, and mix it with what's left of whatever the last bag was, she picks these out and eats them first...only eats the old stuff when none of this is left. Good price for the quality, too.

  • Dogs loved this above all!

    By on

We were super happy to finally come across a dog food that our dogs will devour! They had began to go down the "picky eater" route, and we had been trying multiple brands and flavors. Someone recommended this brand to us recently and although our dogs didn't like the other flavors, salmon was a hit! Now they eat as soon as we put the bowls down and chow down. Loved that we were able to try this with a discount! Thanks Chewy!

  • Great dog food, Great Dog Food Site

    By on

My dogs love this food! and I guess it loves them...their coats are shiny, they are both very energetic and they don't have any digestive issues with this kibble. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. I also recommend Chewy.com to all my friends...prices are great, service is excellent. They ship my order and 2 days later it is at my door. AND they don't overflow my inbox with advertising email !!! Love it

  • Best Value in Grain-Free Dry Dogfood

    By on

My dogs had been eating another brand of grain-free dog kibble that has been discontinued. This is the least expensive of them that has a similar taste, the seafood base. My dogs get a small amount of it twice daily, supplemented by a home made wet dog food on top. They are healthy and beautiful, and we don't have problems with allergies sometimes associated with dog food containing wheat, oats, or corn.
