Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

First of all when you open the bag, the smell of the food is very overwhelming. i have two daschunds. One of them ate the food and seemed to like it just fine, the other one would not touch it. After two days of not eating the food, we decided to try adding water to the food to soften it up, and he ate it that way. After about a week, we noticed that our dogs started to stink, not just doggie breath... I mean really STINK! We could smell them from two feet away! And, it all started when we starting feeding them Taste of the Wild. The smell got progressively worse and worse. • Tasty Food for a Picky Pup

I was a little hesitant to buy this food after reading some iffy reviews on other sites, but everyone on Chewy seemed to love it and I'm glad we bought it. Luckily, I trusted Chewy reviewers. My pup Arya, loves this food. She's almost 2 and this is our 8th brand of food trying to get her to eat regular meals. Before we'd fill a dish and she'd pick at it when she got hungry, but this TOW Salmon... she eats as soon as I put it in the dish, and now I've had to start measuring out her food to make sure she isn't eating too much! It's also made her bathroom breaks much more compact and a lot firmer. So there is definitely less fillers going right through her. Admittedly this stuff has a very strong salmon smell, but I keep it in a sealed container and don't have any issues with it. … more

  • made my dog's face and head smell like cat urine

I switched my two doxies food from Earthborne Holistic Coastal Catch to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream just to try something different. They have been on Taste of the Wild for about a month and a half now. After about 2 weeks, I noticed that one of my dog's face/head would randomly smell of cat urine. I thought he was rolling in something outside or brushing up against something outside, so I began to watch him every time he would go outside and never noticed my dog roll or brush up against anything. I finally performed a google search about my dog's face smelling of cat urine and discovered that this was a common problem among other dog owners who fed their dog's food with the main ingredients I switched my two doxies food from Earthborne Holistic Coastal Catch to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream just to try something different. Dog food containing high amounts of salmon/salmon oil can make dog's hair/skin smell of urine or fishy. I will be switching back to Earthborne Holistic Coastal Catch which still contains salmon and sweet potatoes, just not as the main ingredients. I only noticed the smell with my longer haired doxie; the shorter haired one not so much. I would not recommend this dog food to others because of the possible risk of this happening with their dog. I was going crazy for a long time trying to figure out what my dog was getting into that made him so stinky at random times. Thank goodness for google and other people sharing their experiences! … more

  • Sensitive Stomach Approves

    By on

My 4 year old GSP, Riley recently had pancreatitis and was on $80 prescription dog food. She has been on it since around August and because of the price it was time for a change. Just to be safe I mixed the Taste Of The Wild with her old Hill’s food and there were no problems! In fact she took bites of the hills and TOTW and just spit out the old Hills food. Definitely a hit and a great alternative for sensitive stomach dogs. It does go rancid quickly so be careful.

  • Great dog food

    By on

I have a dog that is allergic to chicken so I have to cater to his food allergies. I was starting to notice my other dog was really scratching and having lots of dandruff and I wasn't sure if it could possibly be due to grain. I recently switched my dogs food and I wanted to see if this would help them out with the problems they had been having. So far it seems to be working and they are less itchy and have less dandruff. They LOVE this food. I like that it is fish based and grain free.

  • Great choice for sensitive tummies

    By on

We have a Westie and a Yorkie and they both really seem to enjoy this food and we are happy with it as well. It's nutrient-dense, grain-free, and packed with wonderful protein from fish. It's been gentle enough on our dogs stomachs that they've been able to have this even as puppies and have continued to enjoy it at ages 8 and 11 now. When we have occasionally had to purchase something else, even something with very similar ingredients, we haven't been happy with it and neither have the dogs; they've either gotten upset stomachs and/or turn up their noses to anything else. In addition, the price is as expected and it's so great having this heavy bag show up at my front door.

My story started 4 years ago when we received our family member Tank. He’s a beautiful German Shepherd which we love with all our hearts but he was having ear infections all the time. I have tried probably 20 different dog foods and even tried the Expensive allergy dog but he was continuously getting ear infections and I felt like I lived at the vet. I was told he had food allergies in the beginning and I had to keep changing his food. After 4 yrs I was so frustrated and I finally had enough. The vet said I think he might have environmental allergies at his last visit in November. I told the vet that I was going to try one more food that I had read about myself. Thank God I did!! So far he’s doing My story started 4 years ago when we received our family member Tank. • Great dog food!

    By on

This is the only dog food that brought my dog's coat back. When we got him, he had a large spot on his hind quarters with no fur. No matter what the shelter and/or the vet tried for him didn't help. This food was recommended. It worked very well. His coat grew back and has stayed nice and healthy since. It also helped with his digestion. It was great to be able to get this so quickly through Chewy and at a lower price than the pet store!

  • Picky dogs will love this!!

Taste of the Wild is the first company who was willing to send samples before we bought. Our dog is very picky and after buying numerous bags of food that went to waste or had to be donated, I was reluctant to try another. I contacted the company and they send out all of the flavors I requested to try. We found 2 flavors our dog will eat without bribery. As a result, Taste of the Wild is our new food of choice! Our dog loved the Salmon and Chicken flavors the best! What will your dog choose??

  • Dog Loves It

    By on

My Labradoodle needed to be transitioned from puppy food to adult dog food. I was feeding her blue buffalo basics because she has a sensitive stomach. I decided to switch her over to Taste of the Wild since BB had been bought out. She loves TOTW and has had no tummy issues since she has been on it. I plan on switching up the protein every now and then to give her some variety. While being on TOTW I've noticed that her coat isn't shedding as much so that's an added plus! Also, I have to say that the 5 pound and 15 pound bags are CHEAPER at my local dog food supply store than on Chewy which is disappointing but not a deal breaker on the brand.
