Best food for my allergy pup

They are notorious for having lots of allergy issues, and unfortunately, our baby was no different. We were taking her to the vet at least every 2-3 months for another round of antibiotics and Prednisone (steroid), with her symptoms getting significantly worse during spring/early summer. We tried literally almost every brand of dog food in an attempt to at least help give her some comfort and ease up on the antibiotics. She has been eating Taste of the Wild (Pacific for the much needed fish oil) for 4 months now. We just took her for her yearly checkup, which normally would come with those 2 prescriptions because she would be covered in a red rash on her belly this time of year, and only left with an allergy medication for prevention! I am beyond happy! No comparison in my opinion! My next and only other option would have been fresh food or homemade (which I just don't have the time for). … more

My pups aren't crazy about it - seems to be causing itching too?

By SuzanneG on Jun 10, 2020

I purchased both the Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream and High Prairie dry dog foods for my two pups. They get one flavor in the morning and the other flavor at night. One pup is a full-blooded Golden (female, Zoe, 4YO), the other is a Golden mix (male, Eldon, 10YO). Zoe is usually HIGHLY food motivated I purchased both the Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream and High Prairie dry dog foods for my two pups. They get one flavor in the morning and the other flavor at night. One pup is a full-blooded Golden (female, Zoe, 4YO), the other is a Golden mix (male, Eldon, 10YO). Zoe is usually HIGHLY food motivated. But she has actually stopped eating this food! I noticed right away when I changed to it that she never "rushed" to her bowl like she always has. But now she's just completely stopped eating it (I'll be going to Petsmart in a few minutes to get some different food for her). She has also started itching/scratching A LOT, and this has never been a problem for her. The itching was previously a problem for Eldon, and I changed him to grain-free food a few years back and the itching went away. So I find it odd that Zoe is now scratching non-stop. I think it's tied to the food as well - and it seems like she knows that's what's causing her to itch, so she's stopped eating it. Smart girl. :) Eldon hasn't started itching again, but he isn't very interested in eating this food either. So as much as I wanted to like this food after reading the other reviews, I'm going to have to say for my pups, it's not a good choice. … more
