Transition Instructions

When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

  • Won’t touch it

    By on

I was so excited to try this food because the ingredients are clean and I want to improve my pups coat, the only problem is my collie lab won’t touch it! She walks up to it, smells it and walks away. Most of her treats are smoked salmon so it isn’t the flavor. And She liked the other TOTW formula but I didn’t want anything with “meal.” Not sure what it is about this formula but my pup wants nothing to do with it. Lesson learned, don’t buy the 30lb bag unless you’re sure.

  • Works so well!

My chiweenie puppy was 1.5 lbs. and wasn’t gaining weight because he had the runs since I got him from the rescue shelter. I switched him to this and the canned salmon that goes with this, and he instantly started gaining normal weight, having more energy, and had normal (instead of liquid) poops. He lives this dry food, and I am incredibly haply with how fast the food was shipped. Chewy is fantastic! Thank you!

  • What a difference!!

    By on

Our lab puppy was getting board of his food so we decided to change it up. We switched from a grain free chicken formula to a chicken and rice formula and he was not interested. We decided to try taste of the wild Pacific salmon grain free and what a difference. He's back to being a lad!! He can't wait for meal time. He maintains a healthy weight and plenty of energy. Great ingredients. I'd absolutely recommend this for any large bread puppy.

  • Dog food has reduced red tear stain .

    By on

Dog food has changed my little toy aussie shepherd's eye. She has had the red tear stains and her eye was getting puffier day by day. The vet had checked her out medically, she was fine. Switched to this dog food as it does not contain chicken. Her eye is clearing up. Thanks Chewy customer service for your back end support, education and help with your product knowledge.

  • Stopped my dogs diahrea!

    By on

My dog is a picky husky, she hasnt liked any dried food and also got a massive run of diarrhea from other good name brand dog food I had her try. Her mushy poops and accidents were driving me nuts for Weeks, her stomach is so sensitive and her tongue is so picky!! But this food has been something she continually enjoys eating, and stopped her diarrhea when nothing else was working. She also likes Taste of the Wild's canned food. I will be buying more! Thank you.

  • Great for pups with stomach issues!

    By on

My 10 month old pup has been on Wellness Core for most of his life but he was consistently having soft, strange-looking stool (and some bad gas). We tried several things to help him out then finally we tried switching his food over to Taste of the Wild and, after a few days, his stool had become normal. And he loves how it tastes! So, if your pup is having stomach/soft stool issues, try switching over to Taste of the Wild.

  • Great product

    By on

I've had my 10 month old German Sheppard on this food for the last month and she loves it. We switched her food due to her always itching. she was eukanoba large breed which was chicken based and I've heard a lot of dogs have chicken allergies, so I figured why not switch her food. Since she started with taste of the wild no more itching and her coat is so shiny!

  • New food for sensitivities

    By on

My GSD is just under 9 months and at about 5 months he had bacterial colitis and since then, stomach has always been sensitive and stool inconsistent. Due to some issues of allergies (we believe chicken but is confirmed for dust and storage mite allergies) his itching has gone down a little bit (but not completely) and his stool has been much more consistent (not 100%, but much better than prior). We have been happy and he loves salmon! Would recommend, been happy with the price and quality.

I had my Great Pyr Mix puppy on Orijen Large Breed Puppy since I got her around being 11 weeks old. We went through 2 bags of Orijen food, but she was frequently having diarrhea and terrible "make you leave the room" gas. Her poop was also odd looking and never was consistent. I thought maybe she just had a sensitive stomach, or this food was too rich for her. She also would be very lethargic, most likely due to her stomach issues. I then switched her to Wellness Core and still had the same problem with the gas, irregular looking poops and diarrhea. Finally, after it was recommended for dogs who have stomach issues, I tried Taste of the Wild and her diarrhea and gas stopped after a few I had my Great Pyr Mix puppy on Orijen Large Breed Puppy since I got her around being 11 weeks old. She is more active and now we don't have to leave the room after she eats. No transition issues and no diarrhea with limited gas since properly switching her over to this brand. The only negative is that the kibble size is VERY small, especially for a large breed puppy. She is also not crazy about the Pacific Stream flavor; sometimes I have to mix in stuff to get her to eat. She likes the TOTW venison flavor better. Overall a great, grain free product with great ingredients. If your dog has been having stomach issues on other food, try this out. … more

  • What a mess!

    By on

There is nothing wrong with this product - however, I open the box, containing a 30 lb bag of puppy food, and start to lift it out and the back of the bag is totally split open. I have a box with 30 lbs of dog food in a box on my pantry floor. Isn't there any quality control when packaging these items. What a mess!
