Transition Instructions
When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.
Learn More About Taste of the Wild From Our Team of Experts
They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.
Energy That Lasts
Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.
Immune System Support
Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.
Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.
Perfectly Balanced Omegas
Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Has anyone else noticed issues with product volume? Or has the bag been changed from a 30lb bag to a 28lb bag? I ask because this bag used to overfill our feed bin. Now, it doesn’t even reach the top of the bin.
Answer by Jennifer • Aug 09, 2023
I haven’t noticed that but I have noticed Chewy not having the 28lb bag in stock that often anymore. I have to order it from other stores instead.
is there a promo code that I can use
Looking to maybe change to fish based food due to allergies and atopic dermititis (need more fatty acids), but I'm worried about the smell. Does this food have a heavy fish odor?
Answer by • Dec 29, 2017
Since this food is made with real natural ingredients, there may be a fish smell.
Are your bags resealable ?
Thanks,
Answer by • Jun 28, 2017
Taste of the Wild bags are not resealable. You can roll the top and use a clip to ensure freshness, or store it in an air-tight container.
I recently placed a order for a bag of taste of the wild 28 lb Pacific stream flavored, also a hearts flea collar, it just arrived the delivery driver didn't even open my gate he threw the package over my gate onto my porch, I opened up the box the dog food bag is busted open, with food all over the box mixed in with the flea collar that is poisonous so I cannot feed my dog this food, I don't know if the driver was having a bad day, or if he was in a rush, but there is no absolute reason at all to have your package thrown over your gate onto your porch, which ruined my dog food for my dog, now I got to purchase it again and hope it comes in time or he has enough food to last him. It's a very good item that's why I buy it for my dog but getting it busted open especially with a flea collar in the box that is poisonous is very unacceptable is there anyway I can get a replacement bag taste of the wild 28 lb. Bag Pacific stream grain free, salmon.

Our dog loves this variety!
We’ve tried a couple of different varieties of taste of the wild. This one may be the favorite for our 35 lb cattle dog. She runs to it once she hears the food drop and genuinely seems excited. Her stomach seems to be better also, less loose stool. Very happy overall with this variety!

Great For Sensitive Stomachs
This was the first food my dog was able to eat outside of a prescription diet. I found Taste of the Wild after doing hours of research on high quality dog food brands and the best recipes within those lines. Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream received high marks in ingredient quality and protein content. The price was incredibly affordable for the quality reported. My dogs have loved this recipe and have not experienced any stomach issues since we switched over. I haven't noticed any bad breath either. We have tried fancy food brands with big claims, but this brand seems to have stood the test of time and created a reliable option to keep my dogs happy and healthy.

Dog got ulcers after 6 weeks
Wow, wish I would have taken heed from all the negative reviews. I switched both of our dogs to this food six weeks ago because I thought it would be healthier for them. Last week one of my dogs vomited and started panting and laying down in weird places, clearly in a lot of pain. We rushed him to the vet and found out he’s got ulcers in his stomach. When I told the vet what he was eating, she said it’s known to cause stomach issues. Do not recommend!

Something has changed
In the last batch of Taste of the Wild Pacific Smoke-Flavored Salmon Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, my dog broke out into hives. At first I thought it was something in the environment, maybe poison ivy. But it is now obvious it happens within hours of eating her dinner. She never had this problem before but something is off about this latest package.

If you love your dog, don’t feed them this
I recently decided to switch my dogs diet because I was suspecting she had a food allergy to her old dog food. After doing a little research it seemed like this food had everything her vet recommended she needed to have for her diet sensitivities. Well only after 4 days of mixing a very minimal amount of this into her dog food she started having softer stools. Until tonight when I had gotten off of work she had her first bout of bloody diarrhea. She has been running to the yard and having just stools of just mucusy blood. I called her vet on the emergency line and he suggested some remedies but I feel bad that I didn’t read the reviews on this food sooner.

Not good for allergies
I recently discovered the food I’ve been giving my dog had some ingredients that he is allergic to and it’s been making his legs a little itchy so I tried switching him to this food. I know it says it may contain TRACE amounts of certain ingredients, but I figured that he’d do better with trace amounts of it than with having the ingredients actually in the food. But now that he’s been eating this food for a week his allergies have been terrible! He’s been itching EVERYWHERE and now has super dry skin and is losing fur. There’s clearly a lot of other ingredients making it into this food that should be listed.

Chewy sucks now
The dog food is fine but what happened to Chewy? Used to be the best service, now easily the worst. Mis mailing medications that my dog desperately needed, not sending out food that they say is being sent out? I hope whoever is running this now is fired, just gone down hill to a point I can no longer support them.

Sick dogs
I got 2 - 2 year old huskies from a shelter this past January and they have been on this food since, 1 past time they got diarrhea and vomiting after eating a new bag for a days but were fine quickly and have been fine for a few months. I just received 2 new bags and within 2-3 days of eating the new bag they both have diarrhea and vomiting again. I'm sure its this food, they didn't get into anything and my German Shepherd who eats Nutro is perfectly fine.

Happy Dogs
This is the food that was recommended from the rescue where I adopted my dog. It has been a hit with both my dogs and appears to be of good quality. Thank you.
