About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES and TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

The "girls" love the taste of this food! We have a easy-keeper piglet who eats mostly green beans, and we needed a high-quality protein source for her. We've been feeding TOTW for over four years; their calorie counts are among the lowest available in any dry food, they're grain-free, and are quite economical. Pine Forest seems to be a very popular flavor! Chewy is so fantastic; I get on their website, go to my previous order list, and click, click, click, re-order some of our girls' best-loved foods and toys. And Chewy ships free, all we have to do is open the box!

  • First try at grain free dog food

    By on

The vet recommended grain free dog food (but NOT chicken) for my 12 year old senior dogs. Taste of the Wild seemed to have a good variety, reasonably priced. We're in the middle of switching over and the dogs seem to like it and be doing well on it. FULL DISCLOSURE: they are not the least bit fussy when it comes to any kind of food. If it doesn't move faster than they do, they consider it edible :-)

  • Great food , great price

We have two yorkies who were brought up on Royal Canin my sister-in-law who worked for a vet suggested Taste of the wild because one of our dogs had developed a scratching problem. The protein level was the same , the ingredients were different ( no grain more meat products) after 5 days on taste of the wild she no longer was scratching. There was no transition period and both of our dogs went for it right away. One other feature was the cost, 10lb RC-$34.50---30lbTofTW-$49.99 and they get fed the same amount of each.

  • Exceptional Product

Smells good and my boi seems to love it. Originally, we had stomach and skin allergies while finding the right food. Now, we're finally settled into the Taste of the Wild. He looks forward to every scoop. Actually, lets me know loudly when he's hungry. This product is the pioneer in dog food!

  • Best Quality Dry Dog Food

    By on

Taste of the Wild grain free Pine Forest dry dog food is awesome, my German shepherd loves it, and I love it too ! Because unlike other foods like Purina for instance, I can read all of the ingredients and know what my dog is consuming. I have trusted Taste of the Wild from the time my shepherd was 9 weeks old up until now at 16 months old, I will feed him Taste of the Wild throughout his whole life. It is exceptional dog food !

  • Generally pretty good

    By on

Taste of the Wild has generally been great for my dog, and she really likes the Pine Forest (venison) flavor. I've also noticed an increase in her energy with this one! Unfortunately, this flavor seems to give her soft and mushy stools so I will not be reordering. No problems with other flavors though!

  • This MAY or MAY NOT be True...BUT....

    By on

Now, I'm not a veterinarian and I don't even play one on TV...BUT...My Golden Retriever used to suffer from mild seizures about once a month. Nothing serious but scary to witness. I bought a bag of TOTW for Opie thinking that his diet may have something to do with those seizures but within the first week of his new food, he had one. ONE....no more! He has been on a steady diet of TOTW, with all flavors in the rotation and since that first seizure....NONE! He has not had a seizure...now going on four months! Was it the new food? I dunno...but he eats it and the seizures are gone. I won't be changing anytime soon!

  • Amazing food for older dogs

    By on

I have three dogs. Lab(12), pitbull(9), schnauzer(6) and the taste of the wild is great for all ages. Especially, with my lab. This kind isn’t that fattening and since he is getting older and doesn’t loss weight like he use too, this is perfect.

Grain free, quality food has made the difference! Thank you Chewy, for providing quality products, amazing customer service and fast shipping!

  • My dogs are just jumping..

    By on

onto the Taste of the Wild train. My one American Stafforshire Terrior has a huge allergy to chicken and this one and the High Prairie mix, seem to make them eat dry food. There is one other dry food they will eat. But for now, they like this and the ratings in Dog Food advisor are outstanding so I'll keep both dogs (I have one dog not so problematic) on this for now.
