About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

Variety of Taste of the Wild products

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES and TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

    Both cats love this one

By GraceNH on Feb 8, 2021

My cats have very different nutritional sensitivities. One loves beef like crazy, the other does but any canned beef food makes him sick 30 min later so I have to watch his sister eat and then grab any leftover before he can get to it. I put a tiny amount of this down, just a tablespoons worth and watched him and bingo, no sickness. It's nice to have a food they can both eat and that sister likes enough to eat in the middle of the night and not cry for food like usual (she's hyperthyroid, even with her meds and good numbers, she is always eating). I hope this stays around. I also feed other foods to mix things up.

    Picky cat loves this!

By Mell on Jan 27, 2021

My kitty is very fussy, has several allergies, and gets tired of the same food everyday. For some strange reason, she does not like the tiny kibbles that most cat dry foods use. She prefers the larger, disc-shaped kibbles that are flat, not round. Perhaps they have a stronger aroma, or she can taste the food better since she has to chew it and not just swallow it. I was pleased to see that this food features the larger, disc shaped kibbles, which measure approximately 3/8" in size. If your kitty prefers tiny kibbles this may not be their favorite, but it was just right for my cat. The food has a meaty, savory aroma that my cat appreciates. Definitely one of her favorites so far.

    Finally, prey catfood

By ChristiW on Feb 7, 2021

Fatcat likes it. Yay! She is the only one of my 3 inside pets that does but she is the that needs it. Also, the mostly tamed, 8 feral orphaned kittens form the 2 litters like it. Treat for them. Better than the kitten food I got them. I love the cleanness of the ingredients. No clutter. No fillers. Fatcat got fat on a rice based DIET food, when she weighed less. Rice is high glycemic. What do cats eat in the wild. You don't see the in corn fields or rice paddies

Cats like it a lot, but sucks chewy doesn't have the full sized bag

By Chris on Jan 11, 2021

It's got good ingredients, and the cats are big fans/ haven't grown tired of it (we switch it out with the turkey 'prey' to keep it fresh). They haven't gotten any UTI's on it (like some fish based foods), seem to have reasonably healthy poo's (though we also give them wet food 2x/ day), and aren't low energy. Biggest issue is the small bag size on chewy/ anti-value size. So need to try to find it at a local retailer because apparently stocking it online is too difficult O.o

    Glad they like it!

By TadnDixie on Feb 19, 2021

I'm so relieved that both my cats like this. In my experience, cats don't usually like beef, so I was nervous, but they both like the turkey Prey so I tried it. Home run! Now I feel good knowing that they are eating good food that they like.

My cats go bonkers for this

By SusanP on Dec 2, 2020

I have one cat, Cali, with a chicken allergy and it is hard to find a quality food that doesn't contain some chicken (and Chewy needs to work on their filters for Chicken-free foods). Cali is super-hyper and needs a lot of calories so she is the only one of my 3 who is allowed to free-feed. My two Maine Coon mixes were both packing on too much weight. They didn't USED to be able to jump high enough to reach Cali's food but somehow they have found the motivation since I started feeding her this stuff. They will awake from a sound sleep on the other side of the house and be pacing the kitchen floor the second they hear me filling her bowl - even though there is nothing in it for them. It's like just the aroma itself makes them giddy. The other TotW food they would eat but didn't get so crazy about it. With this Angus Beef Formula I may as well be putting a slab of meat on the counter for the lengths they will go to to get at it. Three paws up on this one! … more

    Cats are all about it

By DaniMKE on Jan 20, 2021

This is a fantastic product. A bit greasier than the Turkey version (of course) so I ended up mixing the two. I used to work for a major pet store and would actually recommend that customers go to our local “grain elevator” because they sold Taste of the Wild.

Taste of the Wild dry cat food

By GypsyDavy on Nov 24, 2020

Fortunately, Jake, my cat, companion, and best friend, drinks plenty of water so I am able to keep his bowl full with dry food. Just found out my niece feeds her puppies the same brand. She always gets the best for her pups so I picked a good one and best of all, Jake likes it.

    no go with all 12

By nope on Jan 7, 2021

I purchased this food hoping to find something all 12 would eat...this is not it. They not only won't eat it, they sniff and walk away. Disappointed.
