About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

  • High Quality Food

My dogs LOVE at his food and so do I! I have a small chihuahua mix, a medium sized terrier mix, and a boxer. My boxer has SUPER bad food allergies to all chicken products and I was finding it increasingly difficult to find a good quality dog food with no chicken, chicken fat, chicken meal, or chicken product in the ingredients. My dogs also prefer lamb as the protein source. Previously my dogs were on Nutro Wholesome essentials lamb and rice and although it had chicken fat in the ingredients, it did not bother him until AFTER they changed their whole product look and ingredients. So after 3 months of research and trial and error I found this food. Let me start by saying my dogs go NUTS for this My dogs LOVE at his food and so do I! I have noticed a huge improvement in my boxers stool and skin and coat since changing to this food. Not to mention my other dogs skin and coat seems to be improving as well. … more

  • Best Dry food

    By on

My little Sophie will not hardly eat dry food but this she will eat. She likes it. That's good enough for me. All the Taste of The Wild food she loves and her long coat stays in beautiful condition on it. She maintains a healthy weight and is doing well with her allergies also. I love this brand. My Vet tells me it's the protein in Chicken and chicken by products that cause lots of allergies in dogs so I feed her the wild salmon, buffalo, lamb etc.

  • Only one food now!

    By on

My 10yr old female chessie has had digestive issues most of her life. After about 7 years of trying different types of food we found this food at the local feed store. Now she has very little trouble with her digestive tract. My vet feels that the lack of grain and a protein not normally used in dog food. Then we found chewy, it's always in stock, you decide when they ship and you can change your other mind as often as you need to. Never a better animal supply website, price and selection.

  • Best healthy dog food out there!

    By on

When I couldn't get Taste of the Wild any more from my vet, I was worried about what to do. My grandpuppies were being fed less healthy food, and I decided to try Taste of the Wild. They absolutely loved it, right away, and there was no transition period or tummy problems from the change. I absolutely love this food!! So glad I can get Taste of the Wild online!

  • Careful with larger dogs

    By on

I have a White German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute around 125 pounds and am used to large breed food with the bigger pieces (this was an accidental purchase, oops!) I have nothing bad to say about this food, I just wanted to warn the dog parents out there that are used to larger pieces of food to be careful with this one, it is quite a bit smaller. The photo I included is normal large breed sized food on the right, this food on the left.

Sounds like a very good dog food but for my dog it wasn't for her. Being that Chewy no longer carried Fromm dog food we were going to switch to another. My dog said no. Trying to change her food was as if you were taking her best friend away. So, sorry but we found someplace that sells Fromm and we have a happy dog again.

  • Best food I've found ingredients for my very reactive Siberian husky

    By on

I was feeling her blue buffalo since she was a pup but never really filled out and always had her rips and hips sticking out to the point where you could feel them but also almost see them! My vet suggested hill science diet and she was put on the chicken and barley recipe for over a year I saw some improvements but then of coarse she started chewing her fur to the point where it was raw and infected I tried everything from switching all her grooming/bathing products to hypoallergenic to washing her laundry with Fragrance free brands and didn't seem to make a difference, also her stool was always almost like a runny pancake HOWEVER I did my research since science diet doesn't even put the ingredients I was feeling her blue buffalo since she was a pup but never really filled out and always had her rips and hips sticking out to the point where you could feel them but also almost see them! I had NO IDEA what was in it and when I checked online I was horrified ! What a step down from blue buffalo .. I can't remember the price of either to be honest but found this was similar in price but as far as nutrition I couldn't find anything else to match what taste of the wild wa bring to the table!:) my husky has since stopped chewing herself completely !!! The hair is taking a while to grow back but everything takes time. She also loves to eat every last bit of this flavor of the pacific stream(haven't tried others yet) I also love chewy since they ship everything in 2 days beats going to the store and carrying a huge bag of dog food that I can't carry with out looking like a child needing help! GREAT PRICES AND AMAZING COSTOMER SERVICE I will NEVER be going to spetsmart or any other retailers again I find everything we need on here! … more

  • Garbled Inefficient Ordering Process

    By on

Tast of the Wild is a fine dog food. I've bought it for my dogs for years. Chewy.com made me sorry I ordered from them and nearly lost my business, apparently because I have a P.O. Box address which differs from my street address! They delayed my autoship order for weeks while clogging my inbox with alarming emails about a "problem" with my order, which they subsequently cancelled. They renewed my order when I called them and explained my "exotic" addresses, but after I had driven to a local hardware store to buy Taste of the Wild off the shelf.

  • Made the switch

    By on

We switched from the Bison version of this food. Our pup is having a much better time on this food. He also isn't having the belly issues he was on the previous food. I would say that if your dog has sensitivity to food this one would be a good one to try.
