Description

Help fight eye infections caused by bacteria with Terramycin. This broad-spectrum antibiotic ointment is prescribed to help combat a variety of eye infections, including pink eye, inflamed cornea, corneal ulcer and inflammation of the eyelids. These infections can cause pain, irritation, irregular tear production, among other issues. This medication is applied topically for easy administration. California state law requires a prescription for Terramycin. However, non-residents can purchase the drug over the counter.

Uses

Terramycin is used in the treatment of infections such as conjunctivitis, inflamed cornea, pink eye, corneal ulcers and inflammation of the eyelids.

Possible Side Effects

Terramycin is typically safe and serious side effects should not be expected, but some stinging can occur. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat has swelling of the face, itching, or appears to have difficulty breathing—these may be signs of an allergic reaction to Terramycin. Talk to your veterinarian about any other side effects that seem unusual or bothersome to your pet.

Drug & Food Interactions

Before using Terramycin, tell your veterinarian if your pet is using other eye medications, as they could interact with Terramycin. Talk to your veterinarian or pharmacist before giving any additional prescription or over-the-counter medicines.

Precautions

Do not use in pets with a known allergy to any of the ingredients. Your pet’s eye should start to look better in 48 to 72 hours. If it looks the same or gets worse, consults with your veterinarian. Extended use of these medications could result in a more serious bacterial or fungal infection.

It helped BUT tube is annoying!

    By on

It’s a very small tube and you have to be very careful not to hold the tube too tight or a lot of the product comes out. I did see a difference and there were instructions...”use as needed”.. I just, very carefully, squeezed out enough ointment to cover the eye on a cotton swab. Dog had no negative reactions from this product. It’s a bit pricey.

    Why an Rx product?

    By on

I have used this product as needed for more than 25 years and it has never required a prescription from a vet! Chewy should indicate which states (if any) require a Rx for this product and several others they sell that DO NOT commonly require Rx.

    No instructions

    By on

This came with zero instructions. I ended up not using it because, as a concerned dog mom, all I could find on the box was the warning signs and no instructions.
