FAQ

What are Potential Triggers for Chronic Inflammation in Pets?

An important potential trigger for chronic inflammation is excess weight. In the past, fat was thought to be an inert tissue that didn’t have any specific biological significance other than to provide insulation and quick energy. New research suggests that fat plays a larger role than once believed. In fact, fat is now considered to be an active part of the endocrine system and has direct influence over the release and regulation of hormones.Chronic inflammation is a sign your pet’s immune system is out of control. In chronic inflammation there is a faulty distress signal causing the body to continue to release cytokines and the immune system to send out white blood cells unnecessarily. In the absence of any actual pathogens, the white blood cells will start to attack healthy tissue, which then prompts the release of more cytokines. And the cycle continues, wreaking havoc on healthy cells and causing widespread damage to tissue.

What is Purified Omega 7?

TRIVONAL® Omega 7 quality line of products contain key ingredients including Provinal® Purified Omega 7 fatty acids which sets the standard for purity — undergoing a unique process to remove saturated fatty acids and express high levels of palmitoleic acid (C16:1n7), which has been shown to help maintain normal C - reactive protein (CRP) levels.Other Omega 7 formulations on the market may contain upwards of 30% of palmitic acid, a saturated fatty acid that has been shown to have negative health effects.

What's the recommended dosage?

For humans Dr. Michael Roizen recommends 420mg per day. But 210mg has been used in a recent double - blind placebo controlled study, a daily intake of 210mg of Omega 7 was better than placebo at managing cholesterol, triglycerides, and a healthy response to inflammation. TRIVONAL® OMEGA 7 is formulated specifically for dogs and offered in a great tasting soft chew dog’s love.

What is an Omega 7 fatty acid, I've only heard about the Omega 3's?

Omega 7 is a fatty acid with a slightly different chemical structure than the Omega 3’s. The number behind the Omega word relates to where the double bond exists within the structure of the compound. Omega 7 is also a naturally - occurring fatty acid which exists in a variety of substances that exist in the food chain.

What is different about Omega 7 compared to other fatty acids?

Interestingly, based upon extensive scientific research from many well - respected groups around the world, Omega 7 actually has more extensive pharmacologic actions than the Omega 3’s. Virtually all of this research is published in leading scientific journals. Actions that have been reported to be attributed to Omega 7 include: improvements in lipid profiles, anti - inflammatory actions, improved insulin sensitivity & glucose metabolism, and even prevention of cholesterol and beta - amyloid deposition in both animal models and humans.

What aspects of one's lipid profile are shown to be affected by Omega 7?

As previously stated, Omega 7 has been documented to have a broader range of activity than the Omega 3’s. In the area of blood lipids, Omega 7 has been shown in animals and humans to have the following positive actions: raises HDL (“good cholesterol”) without any flushing side effects, lowers LDL (“bad cholesterol”) and also lowers triglycerides. The Omega 3’s are effective at lowering bad cholesterol, but have minimal effect on HDL. Thus, with Omega 7, 1 gets a broader action with a single fatty acid. All fatty acids are definitely not the same.

Can Omega 7 be taken in conjunction with statins?

Yes. There are no known side effects or contraindications. But you should always consult with your Doctor about any supplements you’re taking. Dogs do not take statins so there is no concern about interaction with statin, it should be noted that there are no known contraindications with Omega 7 or our Trivonal products, but it is always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian before supplementing with any product.

Do TRIVONAL® Omega 7 products contain allergens?

Check each label as our products are formulated with different ingredients for each category specific formulation. Other oils including wheat germ and parsley are potentially processed on the same equipment; however, with the GMP cleaning procedures in place, potential allergen threats should be minimized. While there are no known side effects or contraindications associated with TRIVONAL® Omega 7’s key ingredient Provinal®, we strongly recommend checking with your healthcare professional prior to including our products into your dog’s healthcare regiment. In observance of US Federal regulations, Tersus Animal Health LLC cannot provide specific advice regarding medical conditions, treatments or drug interactions.Chronic inflammation is a sign your pet’s immune system is out of control. In chronic inflammation there is a faulty distress signal causing the body to continue to release cytokines and the immune system to send out white blood cells unnecessarily. I believe it visibly helped.

An adult, intact male Doberman Pinscher bit my GSD puppy when she was 6 months old, right beneath her eyeball. Two weeks later that eyeball swelled up and appeared like it was going to pop out of her head.... we went to our vet, we did all the meds (Benadryl, BNP with and without steroids, oral anti-inflammatory rxs...). They helped but not for long. Her eye always appeared larger and as if higher in pressure or something in the socket swelling still. This supplement changed that. Her eye is totally normal when taking this and pressures even measure as normal!

Not sure how long it's supposed to take for results?

    By on

I didn't see a change at all over the course of 60 days, which I thought would be enough to see some difference (even if it's a little change?), but no luck. I really wanted to like this, especially after the three glowing reviews I read.

    Amazing product

My 4 year old yorkie was diagnosed with dry eye after the vet performed a Schirmer's test. She had ZERO tears in one of her eyes and was prescribed eye drops indefinitely. It was nearly impossible to administer the drops 3 times a day...we were lucky to get drops in her eye once a day! I found this product and thought I'd give it a try. After being given the eye drops we had to follow up with the vet 10 days later, 7 of those 10 days we were able to get drops and/or ointment in her eye one time a day, the last 3 days were impossible to get the drops in, so day 8 & 9 we gave her half of a tablet. Day 10 the vet performed the test again, her right eye went from zero to 7! Our vet was not aware My 4 year old yorkie was diagnosed with dry eye after the vet performed a Schirmer's test. Great quality ingredients & vitamins

    By on

I am excited to see what happens; my dog loves them. He has cataracts, nothing short of surgery will cure his sight but with proper nutrition, probiotics, nutrients and vitamins-this can all halt & prevent it from worsening. I see some difference! Thanks.

    I see good results

    By on

We are using it on two older dogs. I see shinier clearer eyes in both of them. I wish though that it would have helped the one with cataracts. She sees better out of the eye without cataracts though.

    Has not helped at all

    By on

This was very expensive and has not helped my dog's dry eye at all. In fact it even makes her eye look odd. I don't know how else to explain it. I had such high hopes and am very disappointed. A waste of my hard earned money.
