It maintains the temperature perfectly for my betta.
Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have been running this for well over 6 weeks with no issues whatsoever. Temp stays a steady 78 degrees. I have it mounted horizontally at the bottom of the tank, centered on the back wall. Betta is very happy. I just ordered a back up to have on hand.
This heater was problematic from the start as the short length makes it easy to cover the indicator light by the suction cup band. For a while it kept the water in a 10 gallon tank at 78 degrees. Less than a year into use the water gets no warmer than 72 and only the red light comes on anymore. Not worth the economic price and I need to purchase a different 50 watt heater now.
This is keeping the water somewhere between 70-72 degrees. It's clear that it's on and "working", but the thermometer in my tank shows it's just not getting warm enough.
Love this. Works great in my 10 gallon. Nice and compact
Had this heater for less than a week for my aquatic turtle and stopped working!!!! I would not recommend this item to anyone!!!!
I have this in a 5 gallon tank and it seems to be working so far. I've only had it in there for a couple days but it has warmed the water up to be around 76° F. It's not adjustable so if you need warmer water than that I'd look elsewhere. It works for my purposes though, my tank is in a cold basement so the water was like 60° F before, all I needed was to keep the water a little warmer for my betta and it seems to be doing that job so far.
With my apartment at 70 degrees, this heater keeps the water in my 10 gallon tank around 60 degrees. Not quite warm enough for tropical freshwater fish.
I was disappointed with the Tetra heaters that i recently purchased. They said that they would automatically adjust the water to 78°. One maxed out at 74° and the other at 76°.
It’s alright for a small tank that the water doesn’t matter is it fluctuates a little bit between 70-78 sometimes the thing kicks off for a bit and will start back up. Which for my case is perfectly fine.
