Features a submersible filter with a quiet, convenient, 3-stage filtration system—chemical, biological and mechanical.
Dual-sided Bio-Bag mesh that catches debris and fish waste with an activated carbon that absorbs odors and discoloration.
The bio-scrubber’s solid back allows the water to flow evenly over the bacteria-rich bristles for best performance.
Anti-clog design for convenient and easy maintenance also provided by the bio-scrubber.
5-10 gallon uses medium Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridges; 10-30 and 20-40 gallon uses large Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridges.
When cleaning the filter, unplug it. Do not use detergents or soap, as residues may harm fish.
Do not use sand in the aquarium when using the internal filter.
If the foam grid becomes clogged, remove and wash with water until debris is removed.
Replace filter cartridge every four weeks. To change the cartridge, unplug filter, remove and replace cartridge, and re-plug the filter.
If the motor is noisy, unplug the filter and remove it from aquarium. Remove the motor, open its cover, and flush gravel, leaves, or other debris with cool water. Replace the motor into the filter, mount the filter in the aquarium, and re-plug the unit.
It takes a few weeks for new aquarium water to be conditioned. You can use EasyBalanceTM to speed up conditioning. During the conditioning period, feed fish lightly and be sure all food is consumed.
When putting tap water into the aquarium, add AquaSafeTM water conditioner to neutralize harmful chlorine and chloramines.
Insert the filter cartridge and foam grid. (Note: the front of the foam grid is market "front" and should face the front of the internal filter.)
Hang the filter inside the aquarium and press the suction cup against the aquarium glass. Drape wire over the aquarium wall.
The lip of the internal filter should be above water level, and the bottom of the internal filter should be at least one inch above the aquarium gravel. When positioning plants and other items, leave approximately 1/2 inches of clearance around the filter.
Raise or lower the internal filter by adjusting the filter hanger. Rotate the filter hanger 90 degrees, remove it, and replace it in an alternate alignment hole. (In turtle tanks, the bottom of the internal filter should be submerged in at least 2 inches of water.)
If the filter hanger does not fit on the aquarium frame, it can be replaced with an extra suction cup (provided). When pressed firmly, the suction cup will fit snugly into the filter.
I’m pleased with this product, it works well my fishy buddies our happy with it too. Out of all filters I have bought this one is the only one that has not stopped working or fried out on me, it’s got a good suction to it an sucks up all the filth. I recommend this product for anyone who has fishy buddies.
Best filer ever!

This filter has worked better than any I have EVER purchased. 2 giant goldfish in a 30 gallon tank. This filter is reliable and works well I have had fish for 30 years and this impressed me! Thank you
Very quiet, no complaints

This pump/filter is great. It is very quiet and doesn't splash water everywhere like outside pumps can. It is a little big for a 20 gallon tank, would not recommend for anything smaller than 20 gal.

I initially ordered this filter in March 2021. I had it replaced after it broke during the summer, and the replacement just died as well. I'm not happy with this filter at all, it just stops working for seemingly no reason. The gaps on the intake are also large enough that it sucked up and killed two of my smaller fish. It's easy to put together and install, but I can't say anything positive beyond that. Going to toss it and try something else!
It filters my turtle tank pretty well

It works well although I take filter out to rinse every other day to extend the life of filter and the water in the tank. So the filter last longer and I don’t have to clean my turtle tank more often. Save time and money and less garbage made too!

Unfortunately, this is the second filter I bought of this brand and size and both have broken within 6 months.
great! A+ for effort

turtles love it, and they keep playing under the waterfall. i like the sound of the water too (:
Nice filter for the price

It’s a good filter for its price but disappointing in some areas. It may not be visually pleasing depending on your tank, it looks a bit too big for a 10gal. It is decently quiet and if you have a fan or something else, it’s drowned out. Kinda disappointed that the 5-10 gallon filter has a speed adjustment and this one doesn’t. If your on a budget it’s a pretty good filter.

I was really worried about the size of the whole thing but it cleaned up my foggy water and has kept it crystal clear since!
Received foam filters, Not Bioscrubber filters

If you don't mind getting the original foam filters and not the updated BioScrubber filter, they work like normal. They self start back up if you have a power outtage, no need to prime back up. All ten are working perfectly as new and as long as the intake slots are submerged with water, they are strong enough to pull water the rest of the way up to keep water flowing if you want to do a partial water change and not have to turn them off. Great for fish with high oxygen requirements.

I ordered ten of the Tetra Whisper Internal Aquarium Power Filter with BioScrubber, 20-40 gal. All ten of them had the original foam filters instead of the BioScrubber filters. I had a large shipment of fish show up the same day my filters showed up, so I couldn't risk returning them and trying to find ten replacements locally on the same day. I contacted chewy customer service and they could not send me the missing BioScrubbers to complete my order, but wanted me to do a return and reorder. This was not feasible due to my fish needing them immediately. Just bad timing for getting not what I ordered.… more
