The Calming Cap is a behavior management aid that is designed to lessen a dog's anxiety or aggression in high-stress situations. The Calming Cap reduces the visual stimulus that makes a dog agitated by filtering his/her vision. Thundercap

    By on

This seems so mean and degrading for the animal, I won't ever know if this product is"good" because I would NEVER do this to my beloved Hugo... Plain and simple.

    Snug fitting

    By on

Haven't desensitized my dog to wearing this yet, but have put it on him. Got it to try to keep him less reactive on walks. It certainly does seem to limit his vision...he had a hard time targeting my hand with it on. And it fits snug around the muzzle. If you're at the high end of the size range I suggest you size up. Not sure what to rate it. It won't block out thunder.

    Didn't Help at Vet's Office

    By on

My dog hates going to the vet. He trembles and growls and barks so loudly that I can't even hear what the vet is saying. I had high hopes that the ThunderCap would help diminish some of his reactivity. I had him wear it a few times before the appointment to help him get used to it. But today, when I took him to the vet, the cap made absolutely no difference at all in his behavior. Super bummed. Also, like other reviewers have mentioned, there are no instructions included for the product at all. You don't have to supply a full-on manual, but some direction and a few tips would be nice.

    amazing for reactive GSD

    By on

This product changed car rides forever. My GSD used to react to EVERYTHING he saw, making for a high anxiety and high stress car ride. With the thunder cap on, he doesn’t notice / seem to care about people walking or motorcycles. I’d say it has decreased the barking by 85% if not more. Life changer!

    Works for dog fearing reactivity

    By on

I got this for my dog that is dog-reactive and after using it for a few months I can say that it works a charm. She can now be outside and have another dog walk by without a freakout. She does have some vision loss already so I do think this renders her basically blind, but she took to the mask right away and walks around without any issue. If you have a dog reactive dog I highly recommend trying this out. Also, she was in between sizes and I wish I had sized down, it still fits well just a little loose around the top of her head.

    Just got a refund!

I have a dog I rescued that was never socialized as a young pup/dog. He reacts to anything that moves down our street. Trucks, bicycles, kids, etc. I thought restricting his vision would help calm my boy. I've seen these hoods used on horses and know that it helps with them. I received the "Thunder Cap" yesterday and was very disappointed. The cap came in a box with no instructions on how to put it on or how to properly use it. There is a couple pictures on the box showing dogs with the cap on. As far as putting it on and how to use it is a guessing game. I called today and returned it to Chewy. I may consider purchasing the "Thunder Coat" but am going to assume there will be no instructions I have a dog I rescued that was never socialized as a young pup/dog. Jamies happy hat

I have a rescue dog who is extremely reactive on leash and in the car. movement and other dogs easily send him skyrocketing. a typical car ride with or without a crate involved jamie barking/lunging/spitting/growling/crying etc jumping back and forth over seats if possible, lunging at windows....he would literally shake the car. I am convinced the calming cap is a magical item. When jamie wears it he is calm and his demeanor is curious and much more in a follow mode vs explosions. That might be an idea, use training ideas for wearing muzzles comfortably to help teach dogs to wear the cap. … more

    Eye cover works great

    By on

One of our weimeriners, Roxie, would loose her mind on walks when she would see another dog. Now she knows they’re there, whimpers a little but she’s manageable. Thank God! Lol

    Thunder cap

    By on

I was hoping to walk my dog with the cap on. He’s a dachshund and runs into curbs, it’s too dark. If he sees a dog he bites my leg. So I can carry the cap in my pocket to put on him if danger comes walking our way.
