Well Charlie has stress issues riding in the car. This cap helped my daughter's dog but not Charlie. He still drooled and was very nervous with it on. I even tried to ease him into it by the instructions. Nope didn't work on him at all. However, it's great for some dogs, but not mine.
Like flipping a switch!

My sheltie takes her job of protecting the car very seriously and the barking has been a problem for the past year. I tried the Manners Minder treat dispenser, blacking out the windows, keeping her in a hammock on the back seat, teaching her "quiet" command. All to no avail. The moment I put the ThunderCap on her she laid down and was very docile. She is accustomed to wearing an orange safety vest and other things, so did not paw at the cap. She still barks at some sounds, but not when she sees a bicycle or other triggers.
Note the this is designed to use with a collar and I use a harness which is always better for small, delicate dogs, so a modification might be needed. However, it is a great option for sensitive dogs.… more
Walks are more enjoyable
on May 3, 2020
My dog is very reactive on walks to the point where I hated walking him and rarely did it.
Now he doesn’t see people or dogs until we are almost past them and if I have him distracted in some way he doesn’t even notice them at all.
Just for comparison, he is a 60lb standard labradoodle and wears a large perfectly.
This has saved our walks!
Really helps calm my dog

This cap really calms my dog down in a way other things have not. It's very easy to put on and off. I highly recommend it if you have a dog with high anxiety or stress.
Works as well as I hoped

I bought the thunder cap for my dog. Whenever another dog comes on tv, my dog goes insane. Now, with the thunder cap, he just lays there calm and collect!!! I love it!
Did not work for my scaredy cat Mastiff
on Feb 24, 2020
My vet recommended this calming cap for my scaredy cat and anxious Mastiff. It didn't work for him. He became more anxious and the whole time he was trying to paw his face to get it off. He then rubbed his face on the yard until the calming cap came loose and dangled drunkenly from his collar. Needless to say I returned it.

Thunderclap does not work for our dog. Could be just the dog.

Haven't desensitized my dog to wearing this yet, but have put it on him. Got it to try to keep him less reactive on walks. It certainly does seem to limit his vision...he had a hard time targeting my hand with it on. And it fits snug around the muzzle. If you're at the high end of the size range I suggest you size up. Not sure what to rate it. It won't block out thunder.
Didn't Help at Vet's Office
on Aug 22, 2019
My dog hates going to the vet. He trembles and growls and barks so loudly that I can't even hear what the vet is saying. I had high hopes that the ThunderCap would help diminish some of his reactivity. I had him wear it a few times before the appointment to help him get used to it. But today, when I took him to the vet, the cap made absolutely no difference at all in his behavior. Super bummed. Also, like other reviewers have mentioned, there are no instructions included for the product at all. You don't have to supply a full-on manual, but some direction and a few tips would be nice.
amazing for reactive GSD
on Aug 27, 2019
This product changed car rides forever. My GSD used to react to EVERYTHING he saw, making for a high anxiety and high stress car ride. With the thunder cap on, he doesn’t notice / seem to care about people walking or motorcycles. I’d say it has decreased the barking by 85% if not more. Life changer!
