can the dogs chew thru this silcone? My dog is chewing the metal tags

If your dog is chewing the metal tags, this silicone cover will not stop him. They are made of nice, soft silicone rubber. I think he'll sink his teeth right through.
Regarding the "Thunder ring" this comes with to attach to the ring on the collar--do these discolor at all? I had another tag silencer that left my beige dog looking like he had a grey patch of fur on his neck from where the ring rubbed against him.

While this tag silencer measures 1.5 x 1.5 inches, it can fit tags that are 1.5 x 1 inch. If needed, you may cut off any excess cover using scissors.
Would it work on county license tags?

Thunder cover

I have an all Miniature American Eskimo. He's all white. His tags keep turning his fur grey. The thunder cover is keeping that from happening. I'm very happy with this product.

Good product

Both my pups have white fur on their throat/chest area and it is perpetually grey from the vet and city license tags (which also turn my fingers grey when touching them). The holder holds them steady, back to back so they are legible without removing them, keeps them from clanging against the water bowl, and they are not rubbing on the fur and turning it grey. I am very happy with them. Tight fit with the tags...but do-able with a little patience. Worth the price.

I prefer the fabric Thunder cover

Thought this would be a nice option because it would be obvious there were tags inside the cover. The opaque cover makes it hard to read anything inside and because the material makes it impossible to pull out a tag that needs to be read. Depending on tag size only one or two will fit inside, but because of the issue viewing them I would not put two inside. I opted for putting the smallest of her 3 tags inside with the others on each side of the cover, it does decrease the noise but I definitely would not get this style again.

Just ok, works for what we need

I bought this cover because my dog is white and his rabies tags stain his fur. I tried putting all the tags in but it is only for three. It was hard to get the ring in the rabies tags because the don’t have the circular attachment sticking out. After some time, I was able to get the ring on the rabies tags through the cover only because it was hard to line of the differently shaped tags. I will definitely work for keeping the rabies tags off him (main issue). I put his name and microchip tags on the outside of the cover, sandwiching it between the exposed tags. Not silent with this set up, definitely quieter that all of them being exposed.

I really needed this

My name and phone number was continually getting scratched so badly that if I was lost, no one would have been able to take me home. Now that I have this new attachment, my name is clear and legible. I am safe!

Dont like it

The picture looks like the ring attaches to the soft silencer material, but it doesn't. I have a few tags with info and would fill better if it attached.

This is thick and hard to read thru.

I was torn about this bc I have a highly personalized tag that cost over 50 for my Sherlock ( imagine the detective hat etc ) it had two metals together and was hand made . I got this to protect it bc it was being scratched easily . But as you can see it is almost impossible to see thru this thick silicone . I have to trust someone would remove it to call me .

Quiet dog tags!

I was able to squeeze all 4 tags into the pouch: ID, license, rabies and dog park. All of the tags are different shapes, too. Best of all, the tags are quiet.
